I saw it first thing this morning at 5am and I too said wow how can you judge the stats of these young men are from teams they played are sub-par from teams that calallen and the rest of the coastal bend teams have played. Its sad that Chad Wyatt didn't even get recognized sorry total bull sh**, I'll stop there cause I respect the game too much. And before the darts come flying in some of these boys teams didn't make the play-offs and some played against calallen and done NOTHING to show the all-state caliber.

[So the Caller now releases a NEW All-State team:
Twenty-five Coastal Bend players were named all-state by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.
Calallen led the way six all-state selections, including two first-teamers. Junior pitcher Wyatt Mathisen and senior first baseman Tanner Vandevere both made first-team all-state in Class 4A. The Wildcats’ senior catcher Chad Vanaman, junior outfielder Tyler Neslony, junior pitcher Armando Arevalo and sophomore outfielder Preston Dorsey all made second-team.
So which is it - the one from the THSCBA website or what the Caller is reporting?

COME ON guys. Calling out individual players and putting a profane statement about their selection? Unacceptable. I mean, Really? Besides those guys did not make up the selection list.

Cal had an amazing year but lets not take away what other players have accomplished this year. believe it or not there is life outside of calallen.

How can you make it to the state final and not have one kid on the 1st team? That is flat out ridiculous! The people who vote on these lists are biased as all get out and if it is like football, they are dominated by kids from the major media markets which is a bigtime injustice done to some very deserving kids in small media market areas.

I couldn't agree more. but unfortunately that's how it is and I don't foresee that changing anytime soon. I think all we can do is give your boys a hardy congrats a pat on the back and hope the basic fundamentals of the game that translate into real were instilled deep in them and that they are better for it. We are trying to teach my daughter right now about winning and losing we tell her it's ok if you lose it's how you respond to it that makes you a winner. great season for the cats. good job on your accomplishments and lets see ya again next year and maybe a little more bluff in the later rounds of the playoffs would be nice to see next year also.

I congradulate all those that have made it, but a couple of glarring ommissions have me pretty steamed about it. This takes nothing away from those who made it.

While it would follow that a state tourney team would obviously have top notch players, it is also very possible that a non-playoff team could have a player make the all state team. Remember Archie Manning? Played for the TERRIBLE New Orleans Saints, yet made all pro several times.
Congratulations to all the players who made all state. Congratulations to the players who worked their tails off for no recognition, no playoffs, maybe a losing record. If you gave your all, thats what counts.

Pleanty of All State, All American, and All Pro Rosters are littered with players who played on , oen and done playoff teams, losing or mediocre teams. Walter Payton made All Pro for a few season where the Bears were horrible. Eveyone in the NFL and the football world still knew he was a bad ass. I just think some of us Calallen folk think (know) two key players from this team SHOULD be on it. One of them being a very early committ to UT as soon as he could verbally do so.
