UIL screwing with baseball Ok, I know that 99% of you dont care, but those that have kids that participate in baseball might find this interesting. Due to end of course testing starting this year, the uil is planning on to totally screw over the baseball playoffs. They are going to have a hiatus after the bi district round where no one will be able to play for 2 weeks. They will then pretty much do away with 2 out of 3 and make most rounds 1 gamers. Dist. cert will be May 1 with bi dist cert. May 5th. Area cert. will not be until May 19th. Teams will then have all of 3 days to play the regional quarters by May 22nd. Reg. Semis will be determined by May 26th and Region finals by June 2nd. The state tournament will then be June 6-9. If this is something that you dont want to see, I suggest you go to the UIL website and email Daryl Beasley, he is in charge of baseball for the UIL. There are two organizations that truly hate baseball, the UIL and the NCAA. Please call around and let others know what is going on.
Looks like 2out of 3 series are going to be a thing of the past in post season play. What do ya"ll think?

I think it's a crock. All baseball should never be less than 2 out of 3 for playoffs IMO. Thanks for the heads up.

I agree, I like 2 out of 3. This rule would help the lesser programs and hurt the elite programs. A weaker team, might sneak up and knock off a powerhouse in one game, but not likely to win 2 out of 3. Or a team with a truly dominant pitcher that "a team not to be named" could not recruit with promises of King Ranch F250s etc could go deep into the playoffs with just the one pitcher.
What do you think CB25?

That does suck, but when you get to Round Rock, it's one and done anyway! They need to space the games so that you have to have more than one pitcher though. I guess I should get junior to start on those towel drills early this year!!

What do you think CB25? Alice did it to Moody a couple of years ago and Corky never let go of the 2 out of 3 thing.

Yep really does, supposedly the supts and admin"s are worried that scores have been affected due to all of the extra-curriculm going on during the testing phase at the end of the year. Not that they forgot to mention it would be less travel expense due to buses and hotel rooms!!

CB25 from the looks of the UIL playoff dates they have already enacted this measure. The UIL website shows no games between May 5th and May 19th.

This really suxs. First they go and screw up football by letting 4 teams make the play-offs and now they have to screw with baseball. What's next? Do we start just handing out state championships to all teams that participate? This stupid move is going to cost a lot of valuable playing time for quite a few kids....
