Anyone see this game? I heard it was great. I heard JP had Cal on the ropes several times and missed some opportunities to win this game.

Anyone see this game? I heard it was great. I heard JP had Cal on the ropes several times and missed some opportunities to win this game. well i got there in the 5th just shy of the 2 run bomb hit by JP only to find out that we let a fly ball drop in front of 2 outfielders, again not playing our best at times lots of mental E's. JP take a 2-1 lead in the 6th when they walk a batter then with a wild pitch the P/R takes 3rd with one out Cantu hits to the right side of the diamond and scores P/R game tie at 2. In the 8th JP scores on a base hit, stolen base and a 2 out base hit scores runner for a 3-2 lead. B(8) Nes HR to tie game, another walk a hit batter and another wild pitch and runners on 2&3 Cantu pokes a 2-1 pitch thru a drawn infield for the W Once again Calallen starts off slow but again find a way to win

I've seen a lot of Calallen baseball over the years and this team better step it up. We've had some good breaks and found ways to win, but so many mental mistakes and what appears to be a lack of intensity will cost us in the playoffs. Just my opinion...but not the best team we've ever had on the field. I couldn't believe the balls that dropped in the outfield Saturday. Not good.

Your team didn't make too many errors against us. I thought it was the bats being off that was hurting Cal the most. Those BBCOR's are a bit less forgiving that the previous bats. Might be time to shake up the lineup a bit and move some differenct kids on the field. It might increase the motivation factor.

There is just some sloppy play on the field which is a tad disconcerting. It's the sort of thing you can't get away with come playoffs, especially if you happen to get into a one gamer.

I think there has been some communication issues between the outfield and infield on shallow fly balls. Now that the lineup appears set, I think the players will be more comfortable with each other and what they can and can not get to. With that being said, I think the boys need to step it up so they can achieve their goal of playing on the last day. JD is dead on with the bat issue. This team does not make any more errors than previous teams, but they have not been able to hit two or three homeruns a game to generate big leads and make fans forget about fielding issues. I think Chapman will have these boys where they need to be by the time playoffs start. The one thing this team has shown is heart. They have not given up, even when they have been on the brink of losing. There are a lot of teams that would love to be 22-0. This team has beat every solid 3a, 4a, TAPPS, and 5a team they have played. Keep it rolling Cats!

The outfielder is running forward so they are primary and the infielder is going back so they are secondary for balls out of the infield. The infielder goes back until the outfielder calls him off. It's the outfielder who makes the call.

But sometimes, you lose all sense of place out there and block out everything and that means everything including a train horn if you are playing in CPA land. It's worse when you play in the daytime and looking right into the sun.

They're not machines, but hopefully by the end of the season they're working together like one. Fundamentals and pitching are going to win the State tourney this year. You can forget about the long ball.

It just seems to me the errors in the infield have been a little more. Not so much fielding the ball, but getting it to the base it needs to go too. You are correct that run production seems to deem stuff like that irrelevant and just a side note when you are blowing out a team. When you are not, you pay attention to things that made the game close.
