Thanks for the updates. FB had their chances early then sounds like the wheels came off in the fifth.

After watching the varsity play this year and after reading the posts here it seems like if we do not correct the issues that have plagued the team this year will impact them when playing the better teams in the district. Errors, and not having timely hitting with runners on base. I also don't understand throwing Carter in a non-district game just before the district opener against Moody. Too talented to slide into the 3rd spot. What does the future hold for this young team next year?

BTW, G-P defeated Robstown 12-8 in Robstown tonight. The bats came alive. They'll need them tomorrow night as they play at Calallen.

As far as yesterday all I know is what I read in the award winning Caller Times. Says Humpal had 92 pitches before he got pulled and Saenz for Moody had 72 total........hmmmm. Wasn't there but that seems just a bit odd to me.

Too talented to slide into the 3rd spot. What does the future hold for this young team next year? Unfortunately I wasn't able to go to the game yesterday, but I've been around Saenz for a long time and he is a great pitcher and only getting better. FB faced the best pitcher in our district, imo, yesterday and he shut us down. I heard he was on top of his game yesterday. He used his slider, curve, and change up to perfection to keep our guys off balance. On the flipside, I heard Humpal wasn't on top of his game as Moody was hitting him from the start. We had some errors that attributed to the fiasco as well and the umps called Lucas for interference at 2nd on a double play (a typical call by the home Blues in a Moody game) and after that he was rattled on the mound. Carter is the #2 pitcher...and yes it would have been nice to have him as a back up for yesterdays game instead of throwing an unproven sophomore into the frying pan straight from the outfiels without any bullpen action. I understand though that it was nice to give Carter a chance to be on the mound at Whataburger in his senior year. Regarding next year, the FB team will be fine as the young pitchers (4 sophs) get some more reps and experience. Mims (Jr.) arm was probably sore still from his last start and needed the rest. He is the #3 pitcher in the rotation. There are also some freshmen kids that can contribute on the mound. I'd rather think about this year though. With 4 teams going to the playoffs, we will be in the hunt and between now and May, we have to get a lot of work in. The players need to get some supplemental hitting on their own and the coaches need to work them to death and be more cognizant of our runners on base. We have had some bad baserunning errors the past few games..especially yesterday with runners on 3rd. It can go only up after yesterday.

All these posts reiterate my point don't pitch Carter against PLC, grow a soph on the big stage with more pressure just by virtue of the venue. Have an option against Moody in case Humpal doesn't have it. in these non-district games push your young guys see what they have, poise yourself for a deeper run in the playoffs don't be satisfied with just getting in. Moody's young guys pitched today. Learn how to prep Mims to be the guy next year as a Senior. All this is relative are Humpal and Carter good 1 and 2 pitchers, and if they are off then you have plenty of arms, pitching will be critical. And hitting getting more reps than you do in practice is the mark of a commited player. 30 Reps a day won't cut it. Agree with all you have said gentlemen, bounce back against Calallen and Moody, not TM, Kingsville, Alice or Ray all can win on any given day. Success in a program does not have a grade level on it(ala.. Moody and Calallen) just game performance and the intagibles to stand tall in the face of adversity and whip it. Commited FB supporter!

That's just plain ol' good stuff you just wrote fb4real.
I am tipping my cap to ya from the north side of the bridge and more of our student athletes here in the coastal bend need that type of attitude from their dedicated fans and parents.
And I am a BIG fan of training before you go to practice - and afterwards as well.
