I talked to Hawkins Dad today and he felt sure they were throwing at him.

I am sure it's an emotional issue for him. His son is very talented and has what looks to be a bright future. But I just don't think corky would allow that. If you are going to bean a batter intentionally, it is usually on the first pitch of the AB. From what I have heard moody went through six pitchers that night and all of them were having control problems. I just don't think it makes sense to work a count on a batter and just bean him all of a sudden. It's a waste of pitches.

My son played with 3 of those sophomore pitchers from Moody...Saenz, Gatica, and Estrada. Saenz has the best mechanics of any pitcher I've seen...even Hawkins. Gatica is good, but no Kenny and Estrada has always been wild. Chris is a good kid and a good player, but these young kids get excited. It was more Corky's fault for putting Chris in that situation. I can guarantee you that Chris would never intentionally throw at a batter. Estrada will not be a pitcher for Moody....there are 4 more better than him that are sophs.

One of the guys I work with was at the game. He said that when Estrada came in, Hawkins was standing behind the catcher as he was warming up. Corky yelled at the ump to tell Hawkins to move and Hawkins said or motioned towards Corky after that to show him up.....again, that is what I was told.
