What D1 schools are your lefties going to?

You will have to keep us updated on Central Texas baseball cavdad. Who will be your main competition up there? What D1 schools are your lefties going to? I will keep everyone posted on Centex baseball. My kid has 1 more football game, 1 week off, then on to baseball. It's hard to say who else will be strong in Centex but once again I think the best competition will come from within 25-4A with both Cedar Park and Vista Ridge having good teams. Phillip Orr is a senior and has committed to Dallas Baptist. Daniel Costano is a Junior who throws 92mph and is being recruited by Texas among others top programs. Derek Stevens is more of a crafty lefty and doesn't throw as hard and will probably go Juco route although it's still possible he gets something D1. Returning starters include: Dane Balazs, lead off batter and starting safety in CF. Ryne Martinez in LF. 3B David Hulls. SS Adam Yacek (possible Baylor commit). Catcher Konner Frazier (possible Texas Tech). And all 3 starting pitchers from last year are back completing the 6 starters. LT DH is also back from last year and may fit into 2B or RF. All returning starters will more than likely play at the next level unless they just don't want to go to a small school or Juco. LT's biggest problem will be finding a right hander. What a terrible problem to have if you are a coach. Like I said, we just hope we can get by Moody and Callalen.

Sounds like a solid team. Flour Bluff is going to have a couple of senior pitchers returning. One has committed to Texas State and the other is undecided, but should have some choices if he can keep his grades up. There will be 5 sophs and a couple of juniors competing for some relief time on the mound. We lost our 2B to graduation, but have a real strong soph stepping up to take his place. We also lost our CF and DH. We should have a stronger team than last year due to experience and beat Moody in both games. Calallen will be hard to beat, but I like our chances better this year than last. My son's football season ended to your boys a couple of weeks ago and now it's hunting season for him...lol. He has been to the cages a couple of times and is getting back into the groove, but won't gear up for baseball completely until after the rut is over in South Texas...and until after he helps me round up and ship some cattle!! Good luck to the Cavs this spring.

Well let me start by saying these are only observation:
FB- well JD has all the low down on the bluff, but i disagree on humpel's 90 mph he might be at 88 at best but his control is yet to be fixed(which they will fix that next yr if he throws) now is will be the one of the better catcher he has a good throw down to 1st where he has pick off many of runners. Well Carter has a special place in my heart he been playing with my son since LL, I wish him well. I will tag FB ahead of Moody and will make a deep run in the play-offs I see FB playing in the Regional Finals.(if they stay healthy and grades)

GP......well, is going to be GP. I don't think we will have the pitching to be very competitive. Hopefully a couple of guys will come thru. Going to have to play good defense, and play a lot of small ball I think.

In all fairness, I haven't seen Humpal pitch since last summer and haven't seen a gun on him. I'm just going on what I've been told. I'm anxious to see for myself though. I think we have enough depth to let these guys go all at it and if they dont have it that night, replace them. I think it is a mistake to let the batting order see a pitcher more then twice in a game, especially if you have some depth. Tooany times I've seen a game lost in the late innings.

Well let me start by saying these are only observation: well we talk about Moody and F-B today we visit Alice Alice- will have a good core of althletes coming back if not mistaking they return 5 starters including pitchers Oliver, Duplantis, and, the speedster Perez, and Valenzula (kid had a good year). They will compete and will make the playoffs once again. Dont know how Mr Oliver will throw this year after all the innings his toss last year.

[quote author=calallenbaseball25 Well let me start by saying these are only observation:
Ray- this year the Texans will be looking for some help from the underclassman. Aaron and lefty/1B Richard will take the bump this year, Wyatts threw a lot last year after Sr Clements went down early in the season. Look for Ray to play the spoiler in the district as they miss the playoff for the 1st time in the 4A classification. They are looking hard at the enrollment and might be heading back to the 5A division next year realignment.

Yes this program continues to attract talent. Key is for everyone to know their role and play accordingly. At the end of a State Championship run, EVERYBODY on the team gets that gold medal draped around their neck for a reason.
