I'm sure this might have crossed your mind a time or two so here my question to you. What do you think of Monday Holidays? I think there great on that day, but come later in the work week I almost come to regret them. The rest of the week seems to drag and its always crammed with a lot of extra work to do in a "like yesterday" attitude. I wish we could move our Memorial & Labor day holidays to Fridays. Maybe its just a physiological pattern of looking forward to one less day rather than starting with one less day.

To put it in perspective, think of all of the American Servicemembers that are stationed overseas and in harms way that don't get a holiday day off. Especially Memorial Day. Having volunteered to join the Army and make those sacrifices for our great nation I don't complain or want to choose. I enjoy the days that are given to be with my family.

I hate Wednesday holidays and we have one in July. No way do I advocate moving that one to a Monday or Friday to be "observed", nor do I advocate moving the one in December that falls when it does. The Wednesday holiday just throws off the entire work week. And when you are a boss, as soon as the window opens for your employees to request time off for whatever part of the year they are focusing on, you get an avalanche of requests for either the two days before or two days after the Wednesday when Holiday falls in the middle of the week so they get five days off for the price of two because the weekend is on their own of course, but they get the holiday as a company paid day. It's hard to pick and choose, but you have to have a consistent system in place. When we first started our business, we used to open for half the day on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Two years later, we said forget that and just included it as company holiday to avoid the conflicts and of course me -itching because I wanted to wake up and do nothing but watch football.
