Gregory-Portland is in their second week of Spring football practice. The Red-Blue scrimmage is set for next Friday, May 18th @ 6:00 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium. Some college coaches have been out to the practices watching Bisby, including A&M and Houston. A Baylor coach was there today. Looks like he's going to be getting a lot of attention from D-1 schools this football season.

We pretty much have everyone returning on offense. We just lost a couple of linemen. A couple of sophomores are filling in nicely. On defense, we need to replace a couple of linemen and one linebacker. It's hard to tell who is being worked in there now. I'll get more info on who the new guys are once the Spring game is completed. Yes, Bisby is a junior this season. After gaining nearly 1,700 yards last season, he seems primed to break the 2,000 yard barrier this season. The goal this season is to get the passing game going and use some other backs more in the offense to keep defenses from keying on him like the Bluff did in the playoff game last season. Brandon Gonzales is looking sharp at QB so far. He seems to have a lot more confidence at this point than he did last year.

Bisby should get a bunch of offers if he stays healthy and keeps on the same pace he was on last year. A passing attack would definitely help achieve that.

Matt has pretty much decided he does not want to play in the Shriner game. Says he has too much going on? Practice doesnt start until this Sunday, so maybe he will change his mind.

Now that baseball has mercifully ended, the rest of the boys can start Spring football practice today, and have at least one week of workouts before the end of school. And, they'll also get to play in the red-blue game Friday night @ 6:00 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium. I know of a few of them who are excited to hit the football field today.

They're going to set the teams today to determine which kids will be on the Red and which teams will be on the Blue. My understanding is that the first team offense will be going against the first team defense. Then, there will be a "crossover" where the kids on the first team offense will play defense and kids from the first team defense will play offense. I'm really not sure how it's going to work. But, I can't wait to see first team vs first team. There should be some real hitting going on!

Are they going to havce a regular practice today, or just a walk-thru like they have on Thursdays before games in the regular season?
