The FB kids are pumped to finally have spring football. This group has been hard at it since the season ended and their latest combine results show it. Those early AM track practices and the commitment to the weight room is paying off. It will be nice to get another dose of football before fall. Some of the kids are hard to recognize because of the size they have put on. Mims still leads all athletes in the combine and since he has put on some more muscle and weight, he is widening his margin...and of course, the 4.5 speed is the fastest we have.
What other schools are participating in Spring football? GP does, right?

Our kids are really pumped up...in more ways than one. They cant' wait to get a little more blood, sweat and tears before the year ends. You won't recognize some of them FBfan...they have really been hard at it. Hell, looking at the baseball players that play football it is very evident that they have gone to work since the season ended. I'm ready to watch some of this new concept we have going on...

JD, sounds like the kids have the right attitude! That is about 1/2 the battle and the hard work will pay off.
How big is the Mims kid? 4.5 speed is nothing to sneeze at for sure! I know we all see the blazing times posted on these websites about kids but the fact is that legit 4.5 speed is FAST! I mean when you look at the fact that ADrian Peterson was 216 pounds and ran 4.40 at the combine it puts that in perspective in a hurry because AD can get it!
I heard our kid that will be a JR RB next season posted a low and a mid 4.3 time already this spring and has set the new record at Steele beating our WR from a couple of years ago that is at OU. Now, if he can beef up to about 185-190 and keep that speed..........LOOK OUT.

4.3 is blazing fast! Mims is a little over 180 now and looks a lot more durable, but still has that breakaway speed.

When Mims first moved to Corpus from El Campo, his family almost got a house in Calallen. I think they got upset with the school officials when they were asking them about the school district or some story like that.

They probably told him "as athletic as your son is, don't worry about the academics, he will be fine. What color truck does he want"

4.3 is blazing fast! Mims is a little over 180 now and looks a lot more durable, but still has that breakaway speed. The speed is a huge part but his elusiveness is what is really special. Like the kid you could never touch in tag. I am anxious to see how the assignment execution improves this year on O and D. That is the question. If it carries over from the players and coaching of the JV last year, it should be a special year.
