Neither was Tivy's...lol I hope they have more success too. We have a great bunch of young men coming back this year. Cy-Woods' defense wasn't all that great. Hopefully, they will have more success at Tivy. I remain optimistic and hope for the best. TIVY FIGHT NEVER DIES!
I guess we will know what Clemens has right off the bat. First game for my Raiders. Clemens always plays tough, not as talented as they used to be but kids play hard.

Coach Jinks will not run it up on anyone and if he feels his team is superior he will start subbing often and early. I saw him start subbing in the 1st quarter last year in two different games with his star players with as little as a 13-0 lead. He doesn't put much stock in regular season Ws and Ls and although as fans we'd love to see at least a 3-4 TD lead before bringing in young kids for experience, we understand why he does it and fully respect him for it. If you come out, PM me and we've got to have a meet and great!

Coach Smith built something very special in K-town and I think the winning attitude is there and the kids will keep right on rollin'!

SC kids still play hard, they just need to get that mental edge back like they used to have and the 'attitude' and they will be good again. I'm thinking this may be a good year for the Taft Raiders and SC will have their hands full with them!

King might be a tad better this season, but the same will apply for subs or second teamers.

Well, I hope they are improving and it isn't that bad. I like to watch my team win but blowout wins without any kind of challenge do not help a team get better. We certainly have some players coming up and Jinks says the talent in the school right now is as deep as its been since opening. Now, whether they stay healthy and reach their full potential is the question. I've heard a couple of the younger kids have really, REALLY been working and have put on some serious muscle in the past 4 months so that is encouraging for sure. Our defense has a chance to be as good or better as any we've had to date.

Clemensbuff,
We return most skill players on O, need to find a couple of O lineman, some linebackers and a secondary and we will be ok. Our D wasn't bad last year. We really need to get some offense going though. It's going to be an interesting year to say the least. I can't wait!!!

No doubt that Brandeis will once again be very tough and very possibly OC could be as well. Warren will be a factor as long as Dausin is there and of course STevens has a ton of great talent. But, I see Taft right in the mix for a playoff spot and if the Raiders stay healthy they will enjoy the playoffs for the first time in a few years I believe. Good luck to your kid and the Raiders this year, I'd love to see them win the district title!

Thanks for the vote of confidence Clem, I would be more than happy just for the kids to pick some wins up this year. Heck, even grabbin that 4th playoff spot would be monumental for those boys. Seems like for a good sized 5A school, we have 4A numbers when football is concerned. We just don't have tons of depth at the positions. Maybe we need an Ag magnet instead of a smart kid magnet school, ha ha. Throwing all the young guys in last year may have helped us out for the upcoming season. Steele will be solid again for sure. I'm interested to see how the QB position plays out with Armstrong gone. Anyone comiing up the pipeline?

I'm thinking that all good football players get offers to raise chickens or rabbits about the time their 8th grade season is winding down over there. IF not, then Streety and staff are not near as smart as I am giving credit for! LMAO As far as QB goes, Braylon McCollum will move into it smoothly. He is #5 and actually started at one of the WR spots this past year and got tons of snaps throughout the year. He has pretty good size at about 6'1" or so and probably about 200. He is not Tommy Armstrong as far as arm strength goes, but he throws a very, very pretty ball and has good wheels. I think he will settle in very quickly with all the skill players returning around him such as Mayle & Thompson at the receivers and STockton & Sterns carrying the football as well as two tremendous soon to be sophomore RBs who both got carries this year as freshman in 3-4 playoff games! Our key this year is how fast we can get an O-line to gell together. If they come together and we can find a couple of OLBs & a couple of DBs to go along side the two monsters there we have coming back, our defense will be nasty, very nasty again!

(from Kerrville Daily Times) New Tivy football coach and athletic director takes over Two months after getting hired, new Tivy High School football coach and Athletic Director David Jones got to work on Monday. “It was a good day, we got together today and with what the coaches have done I’ve been more than welcomed,” Jones said. “I don’t think I could have gotten into a better situation. From the middle school coaches and up everyone has made this transition more than smooth.”
