I have some questions about Austin ISD football. 1. Which schools are the strongest year in and year out? 2. Do the high school programs have any control over the middle school programs? 3. How is the community support? 500 in attendance on a Friday night or 5000? 4. Which schools would you consider teaching at and which ones would you stay away from? 5. Is the pay comparable to nearby districts like Leander? 6. If you had to pick one school to coach at, which one would it be?

I would go with Austin High, Anderson, or McCallum with McCallum being the favorite. Austin High probably has a few better athletes overall. Anderson's football team hasn't been good historically, but they've strung together a few good seasons recently and have potential for more success. McCallum, I believe, has been the most successful recently. I doubt any AISD schools have a whole lot of control over their feeder middle schools. None of the AISD schools have much fan support like you get in the burbs, but it is decent at Austin and Anderson. I'm not sure about the support at McCallum, but I would guess it's about the same. Avoid the east side schools. Reagan has great program 25 years ago, but that's long gone history. I don't know about the pay. I suspect that teachers get paid a bit more in AISD than in Leander/Round Rock ISD, but the coaches probably make less in AISD. That's just a guess, though. I'd go with McCallum, Anderson and then Austin in that order. Travis High wouldn't be horrible, either.

Saw some of these schools late 90's, early 2000's and Anderson had the best overall support in sports. Travis and Reagan the worst.
