Houston Northbrook seems to have benefited by moving to 22-4A with FB Marshall, FB Ridge Point, FB Willowridge, Houston Spring Woods, Houston Stratford, Tomball and Tomball Memorial. Northbrook's opponents in 2012 have a combined record of 24-58 from 2011, seems like the easiest schedule in school history and increasing the chances of making the playoffs for the 1st time in school history. Who else got a nice deal in the realignment in terms of opponent success last season?

Well, I guess if you look at it that way, they benefited. But, I think the stronger your competition in district, THE BETTER! If making the playoffs is the goal, then a weak district sure benefits that. But, if making a deep run and winning a title is your goal, playing weak teams in weeks 0-10 doesn't help you get better.
5a Cibolo Steele is my team and I can tell you that I'm still pissed about the UIL pulling us out of 25-5a and putting us in 28-5a.

They've got the dc locked in for 2 years so look out 2nd round of playoffs... They're gonna take out their frustrations on the first two rounds anyway cause 2nd round will be them proving they should've been in that district not TM... which I think they all should've been together... Let ccisd and lisd play each other in the weakest link district and yes I know TM is weak too but they should've went 3A anyway.... I wish they'd close their boundaries again and take the drop in enrollment cause they may even drop close to 2A numbers...

I remember my freshman year our district was as follows
Cal GP TM PLC Flour Bluff Rockport Beeville Robstown
They could have easily inserted VE and VW for robstown and rockport and put it back together that way... That would be a great tough south Texas coastal bend district. Heck move TM down and put Alice there and instantly even more powerful...

I am convinced that the UIL grouped 31 4A including Flour Bluff according to similar enrollment. If you look at it that way only Alice is the odd man out. I think it is in prep for 6A next time where I suspect FB to be 5A and in district with CC Carroll, King, Ray, Moody, Miller and perhaps Vic East and West.

I hate to suggest we (Calallen) benefited because I don't want to rub the wounds of our Bluff friends, but I think we did benefit. I see the "benefits" as playing in a stronger district vs what some see as an auto ticket punched for the playoffs. The last two seasons, we played in district with two bad CCISD programs from a district with three very bad Laredo programs. Most of us here were not looking forward to playing a mediocre slate again next season stuck in there with a good team or two (Bluff and Alice), so where we landed was treat. I was asked the question on the valley board about our schedule and having to play RGV schools for non conference and I noted that our schedule is probably one of the better ones we've had the past four seasons.

Cibolo being pulled down this way is probably one of the biggest snafus the UIL has committed in the history of redistricting.

Benefitting to some teams is moving to a tougher district. To Northbrook moving to what appears to be an easier district is good for us since we played Brenham, Montgomery and Magnolia West all of which easily handed us losses. The Northbrook football program has never been to the playoffs, once this program hits the playoffs there's no telling what could happen.

I think Floresville benefits from the realignment mostly for travel. Floresville previous closest district game was Beeville a 60 mile drive with PLC & GP being the furthest at 120 mile trip.
Now Floresville will only have one long road trip to Uvalde compared with five the last two years.

In the mid to late 80's we were in the same district. www.texas4asports.com/index.cgi?board=schools&action=display&thread=187
