Lockhart had petitioned to the UIL to get out of this district: Kerrville Tivy Boerne Champion SA Alamo Heights Schertz Clemens Seguin (drop from 5A) Buda Hays Kyle Lehman Lockhart To this one: Austin Crockett Austin Reagan Austin Eastside Memorial Austin LBJ Austin McCallum Austin Lanier Austin Travis Now this appeal kind of does make sense, but in the end the UIL pulled out its calculators and concluded that the mileage wasnt significant enough to claim travel hardship. Sorry Lions, you are stuck in a district with no weak sisters (no, Lehman is no longer a weakling).

Wow, I would think traveling to Kerrville, Boerne, and even SA AH would be substantially more then the Austin area teams.
Here's what I come up with:
Austin Crockett - 33.7 Austin Reagan - 34.7 Austin E Side Mem - 29.0 Austin LBJ - 32.8 Austin McCallum - 34.0 Austin Lanier - 38.1 Austin Travis - 31.2
AVG trip would be 33.35 miles Longest trip would be 38.1 miles
Kerrville - 119.0 Boerne - 84.8 Alamo Heights - 62.0 Clemens - 50.3 Seguin - 35.1 Hays - 21.3 Lehman - 15.9
Avg drive = 55.49 Longest drive = 119.0
Me thinks the UIL's math skills are very, very BAD!

Yeah, but then they'd have to pull Lehman and Hays up to the Austin district, too, as they are even closer to the Austin schools. I think the UIL got these districts right except for AH.

Good point about Hays and Lehman. And also, Lockhart just seems to fit better culturally with the small town 27-4A schools than with the urban Austin ISD inner city district. Alamo Heights seems like it wouldn't fit, but they are a single high school ISD surrounded by large, multiple high school urban districts. That makes it harder to fit them in a San Antonio district. But I dont think the Mules seem to mind. Either that or they've just gotten used to it.

The weirdest placement to me still remains Cibolo Steele...just wacky.

So, you think AH should have went with the other SAISD 4a schools? I do agree that it probably makes more sense but I can assure you that Byrd and the Mules are much happier where they are at. The Mules would run rough shod over that other district.

I do agree with you 100% in what you are saying but the fact is the Lions would be a hell of a lot more competitive in the Austin district then where they are at...........with a lot less travel to do it. Culturally.........no doubt a better fit where they are at right now.

Seams like HIM trying to keep teams that would compete better together. With a few like Lockhart getting the short end.
