I heard te different UIL people this weekend during the games say they are really going to take into account the current economic realities most districts face in making sure travel costs are taken into consideration. Ok UIL , we will hold you to that !

Lake Travis, Smithson Valley and New Braunfels Canyon should move up to 5A.

Lake Travis, Smithson Valley and New Braunfels Canyon should move up to 5A. I think Cedar Park will move up as well. However, most likely LT & CP will end up in R2 like the rest of the Austin area 5a schools. This would stink. I'd rather have them as well as Westlake and Bowie back in R4 to give us more strong teams in our region. However, this is the UIL we are talking about and I wouldn't bet a dime on who goes where until the alignments are released!

so who will have 4a enrolement in our CC area? CC Miller turned in 4A numbers according to the Old Coach board count. How they went from 700 something in 2009 to 1200 something in 2011 is kind of a puzziling. They must be counting the magnet school population with the general population over there because their is no way in the world that many people move into the Miller attendence zone . If anything, they should continue to lose student population thanks to the demographics and it being a low performing school. The only other way Miller gained that many is if the CCISD did the boundary changes which I don't think they did. I saw that Moody and Ray all added to their numbers too with Ray back around 2100. On paper, it looks like CCISD really screwed up with their counts last time around. I do have to wonder if CCISD is positioning itself to ask the UIL for a waiver to move Ray and Moody back up to 5A in order to minimize their travel to SA or the RGV. They'd still have to go to one of those areas for district, but it would cut out a few road trips. I say go for it because it would leave Miller as the only 4A (which is shame for the kids sake)and it would open the door for GP and Beeville to move to 31. The district would be better with those two instead of Ray and Moody in football.

They turned in numbers not including their magnet school and were expected to drop to 4A which they wanted....but the UIL told them no and they had to include their magnet school kids which bumped them back up to 5A. Those kids at Lee get the shaft by NEISD. I was curious and looked up their boundaries compared to the other NEISD schools. They had this tiny little block while all other NEISD schools had tons of area to choose from.

Plus most of these kids who go to magnet schools are not playing sports or even participating in band. Maybe the academic UIL stuff, but most are not playing sports. And some of these magnet programs across the state are not for academic advancement such as targeting a specific career path. Some are targeted for early graduation, troubled students, etc.

Also, what did T-M turn in for enrollment? I know they've been very close to the 3A cutoff the last few rounds.

while playing a tournament at King this past summer I was told by a coach that with the new school at the Carroll side of town they was to rezone the limits and force King to drop to 4A along with Ray and Moody. Miller would stay at 3A and T-M would join them. Question to be asked is did they rezone before the number went to Austin?
