Lufkin is trying to leave this district and move south into the Houston area. I hope the UIL lets them move. Makes sense for the travel.

They want to go from R2 D7 to R3 D9. D7 voted unanimously to let them go, but D9 voted unanimously to not accept them. Its still the UIL's final call but I think they stay in R2 D7. Its somewhat better but not massively better. They would still have to go south of I-10 to Angleton, Galveston Ball, Baytown.

Because they don’t want to drive north to Lufkin.

In 5ADI Lufkin wants to move from D7 to D9, Angleton wants to move from D9 to D11 and Spring Woods wants to move from D11 to D10 according to THSS. If the UIL makes these moves, everyone will be happy. Everyone just waiting until Monday the 20th now.

If the UIL makes these moves, everyone will be happy. Everyone happy? Seriously? You really think the teams in D-9 want to drive to Lufkin? D-9 had voted unanimously NO.

You guys any better than Lufkin??? You see no one wants to drive to Lufkin, but everyone else whether it be in 9-5A or 7-5A or UIL thinks its OK for Lufkin to travel to Barbers Hill or Cleburne? Just make an exception to allow Lufkin and Tyler to play all the same folks they are going to play in all others sports in an East Texas district, most of them are DII football schools. Wouldn't be much different than what the UIL is trying to to making Lufkin travel 8 hours round trip for 3 or 4 games a year up North or about 4 1/2 hour round trips going South in 9-5A.

Lufkin is in a tough spot. I know other areas around the state opt up their schools to help. If Lufkin opted up, would that help with the travel issues?

Opting up to 6A would not improve Lufkin's travel any compared to moving to 9-5A DI or 11-5A DI. Nor would it make a lot of difference competition wise. Lufkin has not made the playoffs in 3 seasons, haven't made anything resembling a playoff run since 2017, and 2012 before that. We are no longer a contending football program, so I'm not sure why anyone would fear us coming in a taking a playoff spot. LOL

Whatever, but that's not question or the the point. You claimed "everybody would be happy" with Lufkin moving south. No way that's true at all! Once again, Our whole district voted "NO". Understand, our district has nothing personal against Lufkin. Its just the long travel. I agree with the districts unanimous NO vote.

UIL has approved Lufkin's appeal for realignment assignment! Panther Football will play in District 9 for 2024-26.
