The quiet town on the bay is swiftly going away from when I moved here 32 years ago. I have to go early to HEB and Walmart to avoid the mass of shoppers hitting those stores the last few years. It’s getting annoying with so much traffic especially between 4:30-6:00 in the afternoon in Portland. I hate to see what all this growth is going to do but I’m certain between 5-10 more years GP will definately be going to 6A in football with many other sports. Portland is growing and GPISD is going to be 6A just around the corner or two, possibly three. I've been living in Portland close to 50 years and I can sense the excitement all around town from the long term residents. youtu.be/zDm2m5UgIIMI for one miss the old Portland. The one where you could play in the street and us kids rode bikes to your friends house. The neighbors and the old aman down the street would keep an eye on you. It used to take a neighborhood to raise us kids. Porch swings and strawberrys on out knees. Now we have people moving in from Callifornia and elswhere with thier libtard attitudes. Ya is is nice to have nice places to shop and eat but the housing inflation is rediculous. Portlands getting a Chipolte and a Raising Canes to name a few or the new buisnesses comming with the huge new Target. There is probably 70+ new houses under conctruction with 100+ fixing to start construction. New parks along with biking sidewalks. Not the portland I remember. All this growth and still no regional championship. GP football needs to represent the fancy decorations around town and put some trophys in the case. You can decorate a pile of crap, but its still a pile of crap! GO G-P!

Alice and GP trash talk will be fun to watch when they play, but muted because I think the last time we still had GP 81 around. RIP 81.

Jump your happy ass into your car and do a tour around town to see for yourself. It won’t take you long to see how much growth has happened and how much more is coming. Why you want to question it is not something anyone in GP really cares about. I wish we didn’t have this much activity but it’s here and it’s not going to shrink. There are people who are experts in population growth and I’m damned sure not one of them. I’ve seen the estimates and it’s very surprising. Everyday I see the operations people from the new industrial plants, the construction workers and the maintenance staff and the supporting companies to the plants. The majority of them are young the 25-30 range (elementary kids)some in the 30-40 range (middle school kids) and a few in the 40-50 yr olds (high school) but not that many. I haven’t even looked at the enrollment of the elementary or middle school enrollments but I know teachers in those schools and they all say enrollment has increased significantly. The high school numbers are increasing from 2 yrs ago from mid 1400”s to the latest snapshot of 1600. That number is steadily growing each yr. GP thankfully isn’t experiencing an explosion of new students like the big cities and the outskirts of them. But GP is growing and faster than we like. GP turned in 1500 even, not 1600s. That is a jump of 133 kids from the 2022 number which is nearly a 10% jump. Will that large of growth continue? We will see I guess. I suspect it will grow but not by nearly 10% the next alignment. The one thing I notice is the growth overall around the coastal bend has not been nearly what it has on the IH35 corridor (SA, Austin, NB, Cibolo, etc). Flour Bluff is really the only school that has shown steady growth over the last 40 years all the way through with only very slight dips along the way in a couple of alignments. Alice has steadily declined since 2000 as has Calallen. GP had stayed basically the same for over 30 years and only in the last few years shown a steady rise. Good work. Awakening on how some schools have lost students over the years.

The dip in population growth for Flour Bluff was when London opened their HS. Otherwise FB gets a lot of academic out of district students.

Thats what they are saying. Did both Victorias stay D2? Pretty sure east has D1 numbers. East is D1. West is D2 and has been. VISD chose not to opt up West this realignment. So I would add them to this District.

I’d guess that Carroll, Alice, and possibly Vic West would be in a battle for the 2 remaining playoff spots. I’m counting Miller and GP as shoe-ins.

I’m counting Miller and GP as shoe-ins. I wouldn't shoe in anyone yet. If I recall VW gave Miller all they wanted TWICE last year. G-P hasn't progressed as much as I had anticipated wen the new HC and staff were hired either. But I do have both of them as Playoff teams. I like Alice and VW as Playoff teams as well with Carroll being the biggest possible spoiler. Still don't expect much of the other three CCISD teams. Let's see if they can prove me wrong.

GP will be as good as the progression of the QB position. If the QB progression takes another step forward this team will.
