Varsity 4-6 (3-3) JV 9-1 (5-1) Freshmen 6-2-1 (5-1)
Rattlers get most of their playmakers including QB Javyn Jessie and WR Cameron Ross back on offense next season. They return some solid contributors at RB along with most of their line, and have some good talent coming up from sub varsity. Defense needs to improve, hopefully the JV can plug some holes. Big question is what does realignment do since Navasota and Brazosport hang in limbo at 960 ish, Iowa Colony is long gone into 5A-2 and Needville, El Campo, Stafford and Bay City are all locks for 4A-1. If the line does move to 990, they fall into a division more than likely with Bellville, Madisonville and company and a region with Jasper, Carthage and Gilmer. I like their chances better in 4A-1 but putting together a quality defense has eluded them since 2015 and Fedora’s departure. Dacus is a good coach, hopefully he finds his own Coach Hopper to put another nasty D together. Are there any Navasota posters over here yet?

Could have sworn I put this in 4A forum. Facepalm. Please move it.

Coach Casey Dacus announced his resignation today. 36-31 record since 2018 when he arrived. I remember him playing for the Rattlers in the mid 90’s when his dad Mike was head basketball coach. Sad to see him struggle there but time to look to the future. Navasota is growing faster the last few years with some big subdivisions coming in both around Navasota and down south along the Waller and Montgomery county lines. The athletes and size have always been there, just takes the right system to make it work.

What happened with your Coach Fedora leaving when he did? I thought he left to take over A&M Consolidated but his resume shows he was just in the classroom and didn't coach the year he left Navasota and took over A&M 2 years later.

What happened with your Coach Fedora leaving when he did? I thought he left to take over A&M Consolidated but his resume shows he was just in the classroom and didn't coach the year he left Navasota and took over A&M 2 years later. I am not sure of the actual true reasons he left. The talk from everyone back home was that the new school board members that were elected then came in to turn the academic failures around, and the superintendent Gesch at the time along with Fedora were confronted with no longer being able to have their way rubber stamped for the sake of football. If what I heard was true they wanted football coaches to have a lighter load than other classroom teachers yet still get a generous stipend, and trying to turn academics around while showing teachers they don’t matter if they don’t wear a whistle wasn’t the way to do it for the new board. Regardless of all that, he was an excellent coach and mentor to the kids, and whether it was helped along in the background or not, his “no pass no play” numbers were minuscule during their title runs compared to when he first arrrived. People in town still think very highly of him for how respectful and hard working the players were, and a bunch of them went on to have good scholarships to Juco and FCS type schools and didn’t flame out totally with the exception of the national record setting WR who goofed off and college jumped a lot.

I think Navasota will determine if Calhoun goes back to Region 3 and replaces them in District 12. rtxc1 has Navasota going to Region 4 District 13.

I don’t see Navasota being put in as the oddball with a 3 hr plus drive to Lampasas and Burnet. Taylor being closest rivals 2 hours away is crazy enough for a district not in West Texas.

No, I believe the current D13 is being renamed D14. The Austin area is getting its own district. D12: Bay City Brazosport Calhoun El Campo FB Crawford FB Willowridge Needville Stafford D13: Austin Achieve Austin ISD (Eastside, LBJ, Northeast, Travis) Manor New Tech Navasota Taylor With the new schools and Calhoun joining D12, Navasota needs a new home. Both other Houston-area districts are full, but the new Austin-area district has room. It's also really about the same total distance to this new district vs the current placement.

LBJ and Eastside are opting up to 4A D1? Yes. Well…..maybe I get to see a few Rattler games next year if Boerne ends up too far out of town or on an off week. If Navasota had just 5 less students, they would have been back home with Bellville, Madisonville and company, short drives.
