He inherited a program that was 70-12 the previous 6 seasons and 26-2 the previous 2 seasons. It's nice to have Lincoln Riley as your best friend.

I wish coach Atwood the best. Hopefully the change in atmosphere will be good for him. He, nor the former superintendent did him(self) any favors. He was nothing but a yes man in Alice and let the parents and school board run the program. He never wanted to be here. Alice has a new superintendent and an AD that is going to run the program his way. The former fired the prodigal son and Evans much like Atwood didn't want to be here either. You might want to worry about Calallen's future. That's not a dig at the program, but a possible reality. For now at least, the future looks bright for Alice.

It didn’t mean it as a dig at all and you know for years I thought he did a disservice to you all with his job hunting, etc. And yes I worry about our future but I know many of us won’t let things slide . I will be doing my part by possibly running for the board next year.

So far it’s worked out well record wise for the coach in his 1st year in Holliday bring 3 assistants along. His time in Alice didn’t work out as everyone in Alice thought in the past few seasons despite wanted out of Alice. Let’s hope Atwood’s tenure goes well in Holliday (Eagle Nation) for the best to him and his family

Holliday was winning long before he got there and just in the last 6 seasons played in 4 regional finals and has gone 16-6 in the playoffs. He took over a damn solid program

It didn’t help him in Alice. Does he have Gordon Wood lineage in his bloodline??? I will check. Coach Gordon Wood does have a grand nephew that is head basketball coach and assistant football coach at Shiner at present. Coach Gordon Wood has a way distant cousin kicker that signed with the New York Giants a couple days ago. For the Aggie posters it is Randy Bullock. I suggested he go around putting on kicking schools when he retires and he said he was not ready for that yet.
