Selections are in, 1 Michigan 2 Washington 3 Texas 4 Alabama
Itβs a heartbreaker for FSU, but the injuries took its toll and its unconvincing win over Louisville left them out. Georgia just let it slip away.

All the more reason for 12 team playoff format. 8 team format makes more sense. Quarterfinals (8) Semifinals (4) Championship (2) That would include this year: 5. Georgia 6. Florida State 7. Ohio State 8. Oregon

First round on campus sites 4 weeks is too long for college. And too watered down. Top 8 makes more competitive sense. And add in "Wild Cards" is not an improvement to the current final four. So what do you call the first six games? Regionals?

What format does the traditional Division 2 playoffs use? How many teams do they include? Haven't they been having playoffs for a long time? If Texas high schools can go six rounds why can't colleges go more than 2 or 4?

TXHSFB started playoffs 4 weeks ago. 3 weeks would be Christmas, New Year's Day and week after. Current Bowl system is 4 weeks long. A lot of 6 or 7 win teams are in that first week before Christmas Bowl games.

A lot of 6 or 7 win teams are in that first week before Christmas Bowl games. Then they need to start earlier to get 16 games in for the ones who get that far. The problem is the bowls system that colleges don't want to give up as its their cash cow.

So what do you call the first six games? Regionals? The four teams in the playoff are not playing a single game the next four weeks. You could easily do a four week playoff between now and Jan 8th. You could have the top four teams get a by too.
