Just saw they are going 6 man for the rest of the season. Interesting pivot in a short time for those kids, but good for them.
I wouldn’t doubt we starte seeing more 6-man in South Texas. Benevides opened that door thankfully for a few struggling 11 man programs.

I really do not understand cancelling the rest of the season due to this or worse, switching to 6-man mid-stride in the season. Forfeit a game or two until you get your kids back but play out the damn season this year and go to 6-man next season!

They are one of the few cities in that area that did not get any growth from the oil boom, it's not located off a major highway, and it is a very impoverished farming community. Im sure a few people made some coin off the oil but it did not bring business growth or more people to the city. They should look at consolidating schools with Kenedy or Yorktown to improve their overall situation. Honestly, I'm surprised Karnes City and Kenedy never combined schools but that's also Hatfields and Mccoys type history there.

Ha, there's enough black gold $$$ in those two little towns that they could fund half of Texas' public education! You are talking about one of, if not the biggest wells in the state in that general area. I was told that at one point the little old bank in Karnes City had more cash flow into it than any other bank in the state and that includes the big boys in DFW & Houston.

There are several ISDs in South and West Texas ( both the Panhandle and Far West Texas) that should’ve been consolidated during the big funding battles in the 1990’s. But it’s all about political control and even the smallest ISD in an almost Ghost Town not wanting to give that up. Example in the immediate Corpus area is Banquette and Agua Dulce. The towns are right next to each other, but Agua Dulce gets a good chunk of tax Revenue from the Wyatt Ranches. But the ISD keeps shrinking. Really they would be a candidate for 6 man in the near future and like I said a few more in this region need to consider it.

I'd suspect that many of these smaller schools with low tax base revenue would likely have closed long, long ago if not for the Robin Hood Plan!

But some of those ISDs especially in a West Texas are propped up with Royalty money. So the local control thing comes into play. The green eye shades would say consolidate based on the metrics and with that make them self sustaining. The ones that receive Robin Hood should have no choice. It makes no sense to have duplication of everything within five miles of each other if your population is at certain number and not going up significantly. Refugio and Woodsboro should consolidate and become the Refugio County CISD. Much like Brooks County when Fal and the smaller ISDs decades ago went through the process.

Think I read where the coach was trying to play 11 man with 13 players. 2 injuries or lost to grades and it would be over anyways
