Yup And this week's matchup against Clemens likely will be for the 4th place spot as I don't see East Central being a contender at this time. It will come down to whether Clemens can score enough to beat them because their offense has not been good to this point at all.

I have more respect for Clemens than San Marcos overall. It'll definitely be a great game. Just out of curiosity who do you have in 1 through 3 order? Personally I feel it will be 1. Steele Then 2-5 are all pretty close. I would have said #2. New Braunfels early on, but they have been hit or miss lately. Them and Judson losing to Weiss has me perplexed. That is a good competitive district for sure with only one "slouch" in East Central.

Well, right now I'd have to go with this below but it can change in a heartbeat as I don't believe there is all that much separating the top 3. After that I do think there is a significant gap to the rest right now. 1 Steele 2/3 NB 2/3 Judson 4/5 Clemens 4/5 San Marcos THat said, if Steele doesn't come to play this week against NB they could easily lose. Judson right now is jeckyl & Hyde to me. They get whooped one week by a Hutto team at their own house and then come back and really put a beat down on Midland Lee (Legacy). Judson has the size and speed if they can put it together and could run the district if they do.

Thanks for the insight though from someone closer to the situation. The winner of that district will definitely have survived a gauntlet to earn it.... those playoff teams will be battle worn for sure.

Definitely some pretty good teams in the district, just no real contenders for the big prize.

San Marcos is eligible for the playoffs again, but only due to the UIL delaying the decision. Most likely until next year.
However, they did have an individual hearing on a San Marcos senior player that transferred from Canyon Lake and he was deemed ineligible. Not sure how much of an impact he had on the team this year. Or if will result in any non district forfeits.
As far as district goes, San Marcos has a reasonable chance to get in. I see the race as is:
Tier 1 - Steele
Tier 2 - Judson, New Braunfels
Tier 3 - Clemens, San Marcos
Tier 4 - East Central
Steele hosts New Braunfels, and unless NB finally puts together a complete game, this one shouldn’t be close. The Unicorns have dug themselves in double digit holes against Canyon, Weiss and Denton Ryan and were only able to recover completely against Ryan. Rallies fell just short against the others.
Judson has shown a similar ability to turn off for entire halves (Midland Legacy). But they should pound East Central this weekend. They have a grudge against them.
And finally, can San Marcos overcome the Clemens D? I actually think Clemens comes out with a close win.

Well, Steele has been quick to start building leads and then holding on for wins...........see Brennan, LT, & Midland Legacy. They've played some really good first halves and then looked very average in the 2nd halves. If they do that against NB the Unicorns will take full advantage IMO. I'm planning on going to watch the NB/Steele Freshman game this evening as my cousin's youngest plays for NB.

What district does this district play in round 1? With all the movement this last realignment, region 4 6A is not as familiar to me as it once was...

SV 35 Madison 25 East Central 14 Reagan 7 Steele 42 Brandeis 14 New Braunfels 51 Johnson 45 28-6A will likely have a stronger set of teams overall than last year. And without SV as one of the teams, it’s unlikely that there is a sweep from 27-6A.

One has no offense and the other lacks a defense! lol

Looks like Judson has to forfeit its 44-0 win against East Central for using an ineligible player. Rockets fall to 0-1 in district.
