I hate that the players were sacrificed in football because of Coach George Harris and Coach Rhoades padding their Pension. I love all the kids(warriors). Yeah, I'm sure Rhoades came to GP with just that intent in mind. You cannot be serious with that comment He is serious Clem. Very Serious.

Houndhound you hate anyone who disagrees with you. Retirement was part of the plan. You can take it to the bank. Life is too short to set around wasting time on people who can't read between the lines or se the forest for the trees. I was told that when Coach George Harris signed on at GP that it was for 2 years and he would retire. His passion for the job was convivence as he lived in Portland and was driving back and forth to Refugio everyday. He had coaches on his staff that were his friends and he brought 2 or more with him. 2 of them lived in Woodsboro and drove back and forth to GP every day. He hired Coach Jay Seibert who had about one year experience coach at a Junior High in San Antonio and mad him Coach on the JV. Johnnys may correct me on this but I think that is fact. Coach Jay Seibert did a good job. He had a passion for the job but all he knew was what he learned from Coach Harris. Coach Seibert left to Coach at Troy and got educated on coaching. Coach Harris ran into a game with Brenham and Coach Glen West and got out coached the same way Coach Whitaker and PLC did. Good question, if Coach Rick Rhoades could not fire a coach and could not replace a coach and was dissatisfied, why did he sign up for 2 more years. I think he owed Coach Harris for helping him get the higher paying job. I think he made a deal to protect Coach Harris friends in keeping their jobs. Do you still think they were competent after seeing the results after Coach Davis took over and replaced them. There are some more on the bubble such as Coach Ouelette and one female coach that was on the bubble just retired for personal reasons. There is a reason that the wife of the new OC was assigned to the middle school as a trainer. The middle school is loaded with Coach Harris holdovers and friends. I was privy to what the teachers were saying when Coach Anastacio came in. His sons had to hear it at school. I heard it from fans in the stands at games. Coach Matt Anastacio was not welcome. He was not who they wanted even though a consulting company of top coaches picked him over their candidate. Coach Harris had a good record at Refugio with top talent. Refugio got tired of not winning championships when they had talent that could win championships. They hired Coach Jason Herring to win championships and he is doing a pretty good job. Does that sink in? Coach Jay Seibert should give thanks that he was passed over for the GP job and not have to put up with the issues the fans have when they are not winning. I cheer for him and Rockport every year. Note: I have family married into family of teachers at GP and assistant principal and have been told to shut up many times by my own daughter when complaining about incompetent coaches at GP because they were their friends. I could go on but the bottom line is the threesome of Suptd, DR Paul Clore, Coach George Harris, Coach Rick Rhoades giving importance to their retirement and retirement of Coach Harris friends who were coaches and DR.Clore politics with voters when he should have been fired. Education at GP has been in decline for years. Some more heads are rolling.

Blah, blah blah. Now bringing your buddy Anastacio into it. At least you have love affair with one of them. So answer this. Why didn't he get rid of the retreads as you call them. I'll help you. He had the same superintendent as Rhoafes did. Wasn't allowed to make changes that the new Superintendent gave Davis. Doesn't make Rhodes a bad coach. He's now back at Yoe and got them in the playoffs just like Davis.
It's what coaches can do when they are given control of the program. Roads at GP was not, Davis was. THAT IS THE DIFFERENCE.

Coach Anastacio did get rid of Coach David McKinney and Coach Argheho and they retired. He did battle with Coach David Mckinney over his negative coaching. Have you seen any of these coaches leaving GP get a job anywhere else. Houndhound knows about as much about what is going on at GP as I know what is going on at Alice. Halletsville is going to put a end to Cameron Yoes playoff run this year. The Brahmas may not have the same RB this year but they are still a strong team. Rhoades is doing a good job rebuilding Yoe but he still doesn’t have all the pieces to the puzzle at Yoe. You can expect to see more coaching changes in the off-season at Cameron Yoe.

Buddy's youngest is a stud sophomore DB/Receiver for the Brahmans!

Wow, the onion rings platter was left empty. My wife and daughter got shrimp and I got more catfish than I could eat and took 2 pieces home in a doggy bag.

FYI: Coach Matt Anastacio was a GP retread that went back to his Alma mata like Coach Sosa did at Alice thinking he could return GP to the days when they could beat Calallen and make guys like GPKing happy. He did not know he would get the unwelcome sign or he might not have passed up the Buda Hays offer. A high percentage of GP fans favored another GP retread by the name of Coach Jay Seibert and a continuance of a soft program. What if Coach Jay Seibert had not wanted to continue the soft program and the players playing for dad had all quit. They all quit when Coach Anastacio came in with his hard nose and disciple policy. I remember a grandfather telling me about his grand son. ‘“Grandpa they are killing us”. The grandson quit. I remember a friend of my grandson who transferred to GP and played for Coach Harris. He said it was a piece of cake compared to playing for Coach Jimmy Mitchell of Sinton. Coach Mitchell and Sinton beat GP and Coach Harris every time they played. I think it was the game where GP only had 28 yds of total offense that stood out and GP was glad Coach Mitchell left for Sealy. GP players worked hard and tackled in the Coach Anastacio video and played until the gun sounded. Now reaching back in one of the folders in my senile old goat brain, I remember a post by GPJohn when Coach Rhoades took over.”They are coming back”. GPJohn is not a fan of Coach Anastacio. Coach Rhoades soft program lured some players back but some left for Sinton,Calallen, and Odem. They Dawson kid at Odemis making a pretty good QB. That McCoy kid at Sinton is making a pretty good receiver. I haven’t checked on the one that went to Calallen who is now at SC in California. The truth hurts but it is what it is.

GP coaches sucked back then and tons of GP player bailed out and transferred. Now Davis and Dr Cavaso runs GP, now good athletes will transfer to GP. As I’ve always said Build it and they will come. Well GP has built it and no one is going to transfer out of GP. They will now transfer to GP. I love this Chit!

I have no idea if the Halletsville vs Cameron Yoe game will be televised tonite. But you can listen to the audio of the game on Texas Thunder Radio. No pregame show just the game usually start at 7:30 pm.

The guy that came out ahead in the deal was the son, Coach Jack Rhoades, He is in a winning program and learning from a very good HC. Coach Rhoades daughter is a coach at Giddings.

He’s in training to be the next HC at Yoe. He’s just taking to best that Westlake can offer him right now. I always liked Jack when he was at GP. Too bad bad Rick didn’t name him Dusty, it would of fit perfect. A Bud of mine coached at West ISD with Rusty Nail, at least his dad had a sense of humor.
