Well you are both correct and we don’t know all the details of what went on at GP. Did Coach Rick Rhoades sell his soul and can he get it back at Yoe. Has Yoe lost their winning attitude. GP lost theirs and had to get a new Suptd and Coach to get it back. It is still early but Coach Brent Davis is proving GP37/wfcoyote was correct. He told everyone so. GP37 evaluation of Coach George Harris and his staff that it was below standard was the problem for the last 20 years. The house cleaning that Coach Anastacio and Coach Rick Rhoades was not allowed to do , is now underway. Wfcoyote was lied about and accused of negativity. By rabble rousers that do not know doodledy squat about football. GP37/wfcoyote—Sybil loves saying, he told you so. Is your arm hurting any???

No Clem, sooner or later the truth will out in the end. I took a lot of bashing and some posters lied about my post. They can have a big serving of crow,

I prefer now, not to rehash the past because other than to learn from it, you gain little from it. There are many factors that lead to GP athletic programs to shrink into mediocrity over many years. The main factors back then included lack of tax revenue from local businesses( sherwin Alumina), the hiring of a new Supt who did not support athletics as much as the past Supt, and it just seemed that the community did not get behind the programs and hold heartily demand change. Those dark days are over and GP is getting renewed, total change has come to GP, many new businesses and heavy industry have moved into GP, more tax revenue is coming into the city and our schools. Portland’s population is growing, the city has built great facilities for our baseball and youth football programs. And most important is the community is actively supporting the new Supt and Coach Davis. Yes Davis has rejuvenated the football program but it goes much further than that. We must ensure every sport program, boys & girls get the same level of commitment so they too can thrive. We do not need to look back we need to look forward and keep improving so every single athlete can get what they need. As adults and parents we owe that for our youth.

Yeah let’s let bygones be bygones, GPFan55 and his ilk have trashed my post and trashed me and wasted my time pushing back for over a year. “Hold your breath”. Every poster who comes in to a forum is here to give their opinion on a wide range of subjects. I enjoy reading most of your posts even the rather long ones. I don’t agree with every posts you make but the majority I do agree. I’m sure you don’t agree with everything I post on this forum. That’s the way it’s supposed to be on forums. Adults can have good debates without getting personal. I enjoy a good debate on various subjects and I don’t get upset when someone disagrees with me. But there is never a reason to intentionally try to demean or disrespect anyone. If one does not like what I post all they need to do is not read what I post or they can simply block what I write on these threads. There’s been many times I’ve seen others post things that were derogatory in nature and that has no place in a public forum. There needs to be a button that you can push to block any anyone that you want to ban from reading your posts. A lot of us get good entertainment from reading what you post. Carry on!

After seeing the positive change in the Gregory Portland program I wonder if Rick Rhoades is looking back and wondering why he wasn’t given the same chance at GP. I’m not going to rehash everything that happened to get to this point, just glad it finally happened, and wish Rick could of had the same opportunity that Davis now has at GP.

Looks like a timing issue.. If your new Super would have come in maybe a year or even two after Rhodes was hired, it might have worked out. But things happen for a reason.

Yep real shame, the only positive thing that came out of that multi year funk was that it exposed the systemic problems and the urgent need to fix it.
