“What if “ is kin to “shoulduv, coulduv”. The HS coaches have a “Good Ol Boy”. Network and there is a good chance Coach Davis got some advice from 2 previous coach’s and the mistakes they made. I have repeated Johnny’s observation several times and you can even see a difference in players at Giddings where I have made some games. Cuero and West Orange Stark does not happen by accident. The question is “Does Coach Rhoades still have it? This thread could be the Coach Rhoades watch and I have another watch where Coach Allman is trying to revive Nacogdoches. When he takes over a team, he changes the attitude of the players and coaches. He is struggling at present.

Why is the current program not working? Will the administration work with him? Can and how many of his coaches can he bring in with him? Is the community supportive of the athletics programs? There are many reasons to take or pass on taking on the job. The 2nd year HC at Cuero Alvarez took on a hell of a risk when he accepted the job at Cuero. He wasn’t liked at all in his first season at that school. He’s brash and direct and it rubbed some folks wrong at Cuero. He had some players quit and some transfer out of Cuero. But he has rebuilt them into a good solid team. It’s amazing that now those Cuero folks like him now. Go figure?

Let's see what happens now that Yoe has found a W. Big challenge this week with Rival Rockdale.

Let's see what happens now that Yoe has found a W. Big challenge this week with Rival Rockdale. Not sure Rockdale is that much of a challenge this year. Rockdale got smashed by Bellville 67-7 and lost to Lagrange 27-7. Yoe should win but Rockdale up till now hasn’t impressed anyone.

Before critiquing that Bellville game look at what they have done to everyone else on their schedule. They have been blasting everyone. Tepper was highlighting the battle of unbeaten between West Columbia and Bellville. Bellville won 56-6. Had backups in the whole second half.

Yes but LaGrange isn’t the powerhouse this year either and they beat Rockdale. Don’t get me wrong, I want the best for Rick and Yoe but his old program he built isn’t what it was back then. Rick will rebuild it if the admins give him the authority to do it. Just like Mart when you build a damned good program. It’s like sugar to bees, they go get some it. The Waco area is a target rich environment. Good programs get the best athletes, and once Rick builds it back up they will come back to Yoe.

Come on Bluecat, it isn't like he was winning titles at Yoe with a 4 or 5 kids each year getting schollies to power 5 schools. His program at Yoe was a bunch of average type athletes that were made into good HSFB players. He will have Yoe back on the map soon enough and my bet is he will be in the semis with them before GP is back in the semis. Wanna take that friendly wager?

Do we have a gambling policy on this blog. Come on bluecat jump on his bet. Coach Rhoades May have sold his soul at GP. Can he get it back.? If Clem is in San Antonio he might GP for Mexican food on River Walk if he wins and Water Street Oyster Bar in Corpus if he loses, win or lose both of you get a good deal. I have my own rule, never bet on a game played with a ball pointed on both ends. GP in Semis before Yoe. Hmmmm. What is the semis, 3rd round?

Nope, the road is harder in 5A, especially when a D2 program is pushed up to D1. Prolly is going to get back to D2 after the next realignment. We can only hope.

bluecat Calallen is probably going to move back up to 5A DII and GP will drop down to 5A DII and you predicted GP will donkeystomp them next year. And you always know what you are talking about. If they GP donkeystomp Cal. GP can make it to the semis. I recommend you don’t bet that the ball will bounce your direction. We don’t even know who are what GP is going to have for a QB next year.

D1 5a in R4 is the easiest path right now in the entire state most likely. Yes, I know GP is much smaller than most D1 schools and that does not help them at all but the reality is that D2 in R4 is stronger right now overall than D1.

I have no idea what Calallen snapshot day numbers will be in February. GP most likely will show slight increase but it still well below D1 numbers. If my memory is correct both Cal and PLC had numbers below 1200. Everything counts on the number that the UIL puts as low cutoff number. Everything Ive read and seen shows a bunch of new schools entering Athletics with both 5A D1 & D2 numbers in 2022. There’s only so many slots for districts in those 4 different regions. I do not like 10-11 team districts, split dual districts or any other crazy configurations they come up with to limit travel and expense. As far as my statement on donkey stomping the Muddy River Cats, I meant it!😎
