Just read a Stepp tweet saying Allen has offered the job to multiple coaches and they all turn it down. I was arguing with Allen fans the other day saying it's the worse job in the state because when you are from that area of the state and with a 7k enrollment you better win state every year and still expect no credit as the head coach. Allen fans obviously say it's the best job. Nope. That's why multiple coaches have turned it down already.

My sources are indicating thus far Allen has struck out on their head coaching candidates as sources are confirming to me that multiple candidates have been offered the job and turned it down..... #txhsfb dctf

Back in 1989 we had a coach come from Odessa Permian and he was later quoted as saying that type of chit was worse in Alice lmao. Coach Herring.

Back in the 80's during my days in the RGV you had some pretty hard core boosters down there too. So much at one high school one guy chased out a Coach who was highly sought from West Texas after only one season because they went 1-9. Never mind he had to change a culture of losing after moving up from then 4A to 5A, but two years later they were in the playoffs in 5A, but he wasn't around to see the foundation he put down. The situation in Allen is very interesting...

Yup I can't see how any experienced HC would want to step into this job They will eventually hire either OC or DC to fill the job. It’s kind of surprising that they didn’t have their new HC secured before Gambil retired. It’s starting to look like Allen has some serious issues when both the HC & DC both retire at basically the same time.

There's has to be a reason, it can't just be coincidence.

Stepp eluded that something was brewing at that school that lead to both to leave. I agree that no one wants to walk into a mess that someone else created. All of these successful coaches are successful when they have a administration that lets them build strong programs without interference. They know how important that relationship truly is and no amount of money could make them leave it and enter into a bad situation where they have lost control.

Could this turn into G-P 2.0 I don’t think the situation isn’t the same. To be honest if Davis had to work with the old Supt and regime, he would never of signed on at GP. To see what the new Supt has agreed to allow is amazing to witness. To bring in multiple new coaches, to create new Asst AD jobs for both boys and girls sports and to give Davis total control from top to bttm over every sport at GP is something we’ve never seen at GP. After talking to some of the athletes and parents it very apparent of the impact that Davis”s program is having at GP. He has most definately raised the expectations at every level for the athletes. But more important is he’s most definitely raised the bar on what he expects from his coaches. He’s already replaced some coaches and most likely some others will be gone when their contracts expire. All of these changes needed to happen because far too many coaches got too comfortable when putting out minimal effort. No one wants to be let go, but if they let down our athletes they failed our athletes. We know real change takes time but it needs to happen and Davis has started the transition process. One change that’s already bearing improvement is track. GP has good track athletes and they individually scored well. Now Davis has told everyone in off season that’s not already in another spring sport that they will compete in Track. Now with the extra points scored by these off season track guys, GP has won every meet they competed in this season. This improvement is directly linked to the new program. This is how you create a environment of a winning expectations.

This job should have been filled at the earliest a week after it opened and the latest maybe 10 days to another full week.

Agree, and the fact that they have no AD in place may give other potential coaches reason to stall at taking the position. I'd definitely want to know who my boss was before taking a high a stress position as coaching the biggest HS FB Team in the State.
