Okay maybe the final score wasn't 31-0, but I was home from college and I was at the game. It was the last game of the year and Robert Soza ran wild on y'alls a$$. The game wasn't as close as the score indicated. Again, the final score was 31-24. It was a close game for a playoff spot. Look it up No. Alice was out of playoff contention. I was there and Alice subbed in the 4th quarter.

Just wait. We were all juniors and seniors the last 12 meetings. Some of the worst teams in G-P history the last few years have still managed to beat Alice. Ouch! Yeah when we've had 3 coaching changes in 3 years those things will happen. It won't happen this year. Alice will bend GP over.

I remember when GP moved up to 4A (now 6A) for 2 years back in 82 I believe. They were in with Alice, Kingsville and CCISD when CCISD was good. I believe Alice beat them 35-0 and knocked them out of the playoffs. Akin's made sure they went back down to 3A after that. G-P went to 4-A in 1982 and failed to make the playoffs losing to Carroll & Alice that season. Alice won 31-24. It was a close game throughout and sorry to correct you, but Alice has never blown out G-P 35-0. G-P finished that season 8-2. The next year, G-P made the playoffs in 4A beating both Carroll and Alice. G-P finished 9-2 for the season. The realignment in 1984 moved G-P back down and that’s the year G-P went to the semi-finals and gave Calallen & Danaher 69-0 whooping. SoTex, how has Alice fared the last 12 meetings with G-P? Hint: 1-11 You did NOT beat Alice the next season. I was at the game. It was a tie.

We hear that same thing every year since Chino came on this forum. How’s that working out for ya? Too many coaching changes brings instability. What's G-P's excuse? You have a state championship coach and he's about to miss the playoffs 4 straight years at G-P. Alice will not only not lose to G-P this season but it will be a blowout. I'll bet on it.

You’re right. But back then there was no overtime and G-P advanced into the playoffs on the tiebreaker rules. So, as rules for the playoffs go, G-P won and advanced. Sorry buddy.

Same story every year. I have no idea about this year’s team, but I do know that some of the worse teams in G-P history still manage to beat Alice. And it’s been like that since you promised “Alice would bend G-P over” in 2011.

Of course none of this matters for this 2019 season. I’m just ready for football season to start. I’m looking forward to watching some high school games and meeting up with you guys to have some adult beverages.

I think Alice and Refugio can make a case why they might have been more feared. GP would always pound the valley teams in the first round and lose in the second, save for a couple of seasons in the 70's. They lost a lot of second round games to Cuero which was no slouch back then, but never got to really test their horses against what were the suburban, city, or metro schools in the San Antonio, Houston or Austin areas like Alice and Refugio did. Not sure what you’re referring to, but G-P has beaten Austin Reagan, Austin Westlake, Belton, Brenham, Hays Consolidated, Kerrville Tivy, Lockhart, New Braunfels, New Braunfels Canyon, Port Neches-Groves, SA Alamo Heights, SA Edison, SA McCollum, SA South San, Schwartz Clemens, and many other teams past the second round in the playoffs. I know GP has absolutely beaten some good teams from SA and metro areas, but I’ve played against McCollum and South San. If I was you I would have left them out of that group. McCollum was the only time I’ve ever been pulled out of a game in the 2nd quarter and it wasn’t due to Campbell yelling at me.

1982 Sinton was 4a, GP moved up to 5a. Sinton lost to Flour Bluff think if i remember right by a point on last second fg for district championship. Sinton was rank 10th in state the following year in 4a (1983). 1984 Sinton dropped to 3a and GP back down to 4a.

I should have been more clear because it was in reference to the period in the late 60's to early 80's when GP got this feared status in the region. Most of those teams you listed came in playoff games in the post Akins era when Calallen was on the rise and already reached the semis many times more than GP.
