My top 10, DCTF ranked 1. Manvel #2 2. Aledo #1 3. Fort Bend Marshall #3 4. Port Neches Groves #5 5. Ennis #6 6. A&M Consolidated #4 7. Calallen #8 8. Lubbock Cooper #16 9. Tivy #17 10. Crosby #7
I think it is a popular opinion that Manvel and Aledo are the top two teams predicted to have a good season. Both lost in the state game last year. Fort Bend Marshall, A&M Consolidated, Port Neches Groves, and Ennis are the next tier and could be in any order and I would not put up much of an debate on who 3-6 should be. Interesting to see Calallen at #3 on the coaches poll but they are yet again going to be a force in R4. I think the 7 or 8 range is fair. Crosby is an interesting team knowing how explosive they can be but they gave up a ton of points to PNG last year in the first round. Do they improve that defense? Then I like Tivy and Lubbock Cooper and DCTF likes Marshall and Corsicana. To be honest I dont think too much of those schools from East Texas early on. Come playoff time maybe they have something going but just hard to tell. The best schools from out there are Longview, Lufkin, and JT but they have a hard time finishing the deal.

The Aledo write up in the magazine talks about two offensive players (that are now gone), a third that is rumored to be leaving and the lil QB only got his name mentioned. So the article mentions 4 Aledo offensive players, of which 2 are gone and one is rumored to be leaving (IMG). Some Aledo faithful (and haters) are calling for an open QB competition. QB play and kicking cost Aledo a ring. The exit of talent was turning into an avalanche, so hopefully Coach Buc coming out of retirement will shore things up. Way to much dirty laundry on the message boards and Brewer just got a new AD/HC and "open enrollment". Weatherford poaching the coaches, Brewer tapping into the FW pipeline and Everman and Crowley keeping their talent home, and then Nolan and the privates, plus Brock. The D1 / D2 split will be a blessing for Aledo to go after the 7th ring. Coach Buc needs to stay forever, or Aledo needs Coach Buc 2.0 to keep that talent pool refilled... If I heard correctly Matt Wixon came up with these rankings. Probably explains Frisco Lone Stars high ranking in D1 w/o a QB or a line-backing core. Also Explains Reedy being ranked. P.S. Matt Wixon's main job is no longer for the DMN, he now works for and lives in Frisco ISD, and he just published a book. North Forney graduated the house, but acquired a transfer QB. Year 2 of the Coach Jackson experiment could be boom or bust. It will be interesting to see how many "Mesquite or Terrell" kids show up in North Forney. Ennis getting Sam Harrell back could be a game changer for Region II. A lot of moving pieces right now. I don't take a huge stock in polls, but they do give us something to talk about over the summer. Much of the top 10 will stay the same, but the next 10 will see a lot of shuffling before the season ends.

I think Aledo attracts a lot of talent because of the program, but I also think that their have been some housing and transportation arrangements that violate UIL rules. Funny thing is that a lot of what I have suspected is being laid out (and no it's not me, they have way more detail than I'd ever bother to research about Aledo). Whoever the two posters are they seem to know a lot of dirty secrets. Several things came up that no one denied. Did you hear about a player having an accident in a coaches truck??? Brewer offered Coach Buc BIG money to come over a few years ago, but now that they have Peterman with all his connections... Brewer might out "Aledo" Aledo when it comes to poaching local talent. The funniest thing about the arguing is that 3 of the 5 schools that are arguing are all known for some sort of cheating, recruiting, gerrymandering and attendance manipulation... If you want to know where to go read about it just send me a message.

Shady? As in all the transfers Aledo gets? No, he's talked bad about Aledo on other forums but wont on here. I will here, I just refrain. To me it wasn't bad, it was truthful. I believe you are talking about something I said over on Smoaky's. I use the same username everywhere (except The Old Coach, because it was taken), so it isn't exactly like I'm hiding. The UIL won't do anything about violations so getting worked up over them is just a waste of time and energy. There are a lot of things that would be easy for the UIL to prove, but they don't bother because it would affect revenue. Examples: * A school gerrymandered their attendance lines for snapshot, moved them back and won 2 state championships. * A large ISD allows transfers at will to appear successful and appease parents. * Several North Texas ISD's blatantly lied about their attendance to stay down a classification. One of these schools pulled a state championship or two and the other made some deep runs in some playoffs... * A multiple time state champ has players that do not live in their attendance zone and coaches have dropped these players off at their homes in neighboring ISD's. Should I go on? This stuff happens and nothing is done about it. But this stuff has been happening for decades. Every once in a while the UIL will do a minor something to show that the care.

Like I said if you believe that and have evidence then present it to the UIL. Or if you have evidence of any of the other stuff you talk about then write the UIL asking why they dont do anything about it. Make schools more accountable.

I don't because I have better things to do. I'm not the only one accusing Aledo of cheating. The UIL doesn't take reports from parents or players, however if a certain player is found to be transferring for athletic reasons and ruled ineligible then I won't have to do a thing. Coach Wood won't fight any of these transfers and the Aledo faithful will claim it's because they were cancers and Aledo is better off without them. I've already heard talk about a lawyer being involved. I'll just grab my popcorn and watch Karma do it's work. Coach Buc is returning because it is all falling apart and if anyone looks behind the curtain it's over... Like Aledo, Lovejoy gets a lot of middle school transfers, however the mass majority are for academic reasons. Lovejoy looks better on the diploma to a college than the surrounding communities. The difference is that we get a line of athletes from Allen, McKinney, Plano and Wylie but few if any transfer. For one they have to play a year of JV and the main reason is that none of them establish residency. We get a whole stack of applications with fake addresses or a relatives/friends address. It's a royal pain, but we do our research and send the kid back to his school of residency. We have open enrollment (with tuition). No tuition, no enrollment and there are zero scholarships. All tuition students must wait one year before being eligible for Varsity sports. Aledo can't help it that they attract talent. They're a good academic school with excellent sports. But they can vet the false applications, and should refrain from letting students borrow trucks from coaches... Guess ya'll have to start adopting some kids like some other programs do... Future of Aledo: Option A) BUC stays forever Option B) BUC finds BUC 2.0 who can contend with Nolan, Brewer and Weatherford. I can see them hiring the coach out of Brewer or Weatherford (probably Weatherford, but then Brewer still taps your pipeline) Option C) Open a boys home or adopt/foster players Option C) Aledo plays their own kids and goes from great to just really good

Rules are broken way too often for the UIL to only hand down penalties as infrequently as they do. It's all about having friends in high places (UIL).
