Drove by Buc a little while ago. The turf is finally down and it looked like the track was in. It looks really nice. I was going to stop and take a picture but the traffic was bad. I'll try and get one next week.

www.kristv.com/news/first-look-photos-of-buc-stadium-s-new-turf/Click the photos to get a better pic.. The turf does give the stadium a much needed face lift. Article also notes new lighting is going in which might get rid of the dark areas in the endzones. Now if they could only give the immediate area around the stadium a face lift, it would be the premier place to play in the area.

Looks good.
I have never seen a game there.
Does Buc stadium have any historical references/sentimental value to the City of Corpus Christi like Alamo Stadium has to San Antonio.

I think they already missed a deadline (2010) to present the Southland a plan? It was just a barganing chip they threw in to get into the Southland. With the way the budgets are being adjusted at schools across the country, not too many start ups are going to be on the boards for the next few years. Unless you are a UTSA and can tap some major denerio from people like Red McCombs, etc. Corpus doesn't have that type of Philantropist.

According to Texas Bob, Buc opened in 1938 and Alamo Stadium in 1940.

I saw Jerry Jeff Walker open up for the Beach Boys there in the late 70's...not sure if they ever had any other concerts there. It was a day time concert that coincided with some other event...Bayfest or Buc Days or something. Pretty wild....it went from "Eyy Buckaroo...Scamp Walker time again....I'm just trying to slide one by ya once more" to "little deuce coup...you don't know what I got"....or was it "Texas this morning your sounds...they just sing to me, I feel alive again with every footstep that sets me free" to "Ba Ba Ba Ba Babara Ann" or maybe it was just "(in very drunk and happy voice) I can see you are an angel, whose wings just won't unfold, tune up your harp, polish your ol halo...ya the only kind of man that you ever wanted was one that you knew you you'd never hold very long, sittin there cryin like I'm the first one to go!"
