Weiss isn’t top 10 huh? Lol Yeah, I was surprised by this one too. I think Smithson Valley is too high given the fact that they lost 15-16 starters. Port Arthur Memorial has a ton of talent, but I wonder if they can put it all together. I'd say that Red Oak deserves a spot in the top 10.
As for 5A D2, I believe Alamo Heights is too high. Michael Terry is the best player in all of Region 4 (Regardless of classification), but I question if they'll even make it out of the region. Boerne is going to be pretty damn good up front. Anna, Lovejoy, Iowa Colony, Midlothian Heritage, Mansfield Timberview, Lake Creek and Huntsville should also be pretty good this year.

SV may be ranked too high with what they have to replace. I'm not sure what all they have coming up but I do know they had 2 or 3 freshman get significant reps in the playoffs last year that will be monsters as sophomores this year. It will be interesting to see how they reload (as they usually do) this season. And I agree that Red Oak should probably be in there to start the year unless they lost a ton of talent as well. AH should be good but I don't know if they are going to be as good as this poll says. They likely have the top player in 5a DII though and if they can step up around that kid they will be awfully good. Your statement on Terry may be true but I seriously doubt it. Take a harder look at some of the 6a players. There is a Jr RB at Steele that has verbally committed to OU and has many other offers including Alabama and others. He is over 6' and 205+lbs and will be a 5 star before it is said and done. At this stage he is 20+ lbs bigger than Malcolm Brown was and is faster. And there are some others out there who are just as good or better than Terry. He wouldn't have the numbers he has playing against 6a defenses I can guarantee you that.

DCTF trying to make up to SV after sleeping on them until the playoffs last year? I agree, the Rangers lost too much to be a top 10 team at the beginning of the season. Time will tell if they arrive at that position at the end of the season.

You are aware Terry is rated the number one Athlete in the country and is being recruited by almost every power 5 school in the country.

And I've watched a ton of HSFB and watched him play several times the last 2 years. He is very good like I said. He checks all the boxes with his size and athleticism. He also makes a lot of plays but to this point I haven't seen him just take over games like I would expect someone with those kinds of accolades do. Again, his numbers are very good but not truly that eye popping his sophomore and Jr season (2022 & 2023). 185 rushes for 1696 yards & 33 TDs 51 catches for 922 yards & 17 more TDs

By the end of week 3 I think it’ll be pretty clear who the best team in District 11 5aD1 is.

In 5A-D2, Argyle and Colleyville Heritage are both in District 3. That district has 9 teams this season, so district play starts in the 2nd week. Argyle plays #6 Frisco Lone Star of 5A-D1 to start the season, then Midlothian Heritage the next week to start district play, and Colleyville Heritage in Week 3. Those are 3 tough games to win to start their season....so we will know by Week 4 how legitimate their high ranking will be. Last season they lost their senior QB in the first quarter Week 5 and had to change their offense for the rest of the season. It was a major loss even though the two backups were able to win many of the remaining games. Colleyville Heritage knocked Argyle out of the playoffs last year in Week 13.

Yep....My mistake. Midlothian Heritage is NOT in this district. Colleyville Heritage and Mansfield Timberview appear to be the two teams most likely to compete for the District title, besides Argyle of course. Then there's Mansfield Summit.....they could be good too. But in my opinion, The Colony Cougars who moved down from 5A-D1 may pose more of a threat than DCTF forecasts. Last season....6 teams in this newly-formed district made the playoffs.
