AA, Before the start of the playoffs I honestly anticipated playing Longview this week and will miss reading all the banter and fanfare from their supporters about the game. Their fans are very entertaining and knowledgeable bunch but also truthful and respectful, you can't help but like them. No doubt Forney deserves to be playing this week and it will be heck of a game. Will be fun to hear from some of Forneys supporters this week. I also expected Longview to be the opponent this week. But it goes to show you that it takes more than 1 great player to advance in the tournament. For hypothetical sake, lets say our RB #9 is out. Well, #1 will start (like last year), I imagine #3 will roll in from MLB, and then #37 will get some reps. Plus you know the coaches will run #8. We can make it work but we arent close to our full potential. But thats where we are. Every team is beat up and going through it. We are no different. We just have to rely on our other players and coaching. I just hope we can figure out the punting process. Snap, punt, cover. Come on guys lol!

The most critical single player is usually the QB, rarely is the backup near the player that the starter is. Hope #8 stays healthy!

Forney is good and deserves to be in this Semifinal. Aledo is elite and will be way too much for Forney. I will be surprised if it is closer than a 17 point differential. Aledo Defense will get the stops on Forney. I hope our defense is ready. They will be the key to the game. If we can contain the Forney RB before he gets started then we should be in good shape. He gets tough to bring down the more head of steam he gets. Since their soph days, many of the seniors have nearly 2 extra season's worth of practices/games under their belt. Aledo's defense was the difference maker in last year Semifinal, I think they do it again!

Game Time Weather Forecast for Midlothian - 60, 10% rain, 12 mph winds. Any thoughts on this game? Watching a little bit of Forney, they are big on both lines but Aledo's defensive and offensive lines seem to be more physical and will win most the battles during the game. The key to the game will be our special team play. We just cannot make mistakes and we also need to be ready for onside kicks. I see Forney trying when they get the opportunity. Last week our miscues kept Abilene in the game the first half, don't need to play with fire again. And yet Aledo smoked them bad. (: Both Aledo's defense and offense are playing their best ball for the entire season. If we continue it will be hard to beat us. I think Lubbock Cooper was the best team we played in the playoffs but Forney could be slightly better. How do you think this will play out?

I'm working off the assumption that #9 will be unavailable. I think Forney will score on us early then our defense adjusts. Forney can absolutely break one off and score from anywhere, but I think our defense can slow them down pretty good. Our offense is going to have to grind. As long as they can control the ball and not go 3 and out then that will give our defense a break. I think we can outscore them but our special teams will probably have some hiccups and give Forney momentum. Seems to be an issue all year.

When you posted this I remembered that it and that they lost a tight game to LaGrange for the title.
