Reading up on Abilene a little bit. My biggest takeaway is that against Denton Ryan and Justin Northwest, Abilene benefited from 4 turnovers each game. Doesn't matter if they created them or got lucky, they were in the right spot to take advantage. We can't give them any opportunities like that. If we play a clean game we should be fine but if we are careless with the ball its going to be a dogfight.

Better watch out for them West Texas boyz....not really all that much West Texas, but pretty darn good football team if you ask me. They are definitely a force to be reckoned with this season, for sure.

This will be our first playoff contest against Abilene High.
Aledo is 3-1 in the playoffs against the other Abilene schools (Cooper and Wylie).

If Abilene plays up to their full potential then this will be a very good game I think and will not be decided until the 4th quarter. I do think Aledo is probably 7-10 point favorites which means one big defensive play, turnover, or special teams play and this would be pretty much an even game.
That said, if Abilene comes in and stumbles, Aledo could run away from them by a few scores.

Abilene has made a living off creating turnovers these last two games! Defensively its going to be tough to stop Abilene. They have good WRs and can move the ball around to several different players. Its going to be another challenge for our defense.

I'm thinking our secondary have played their best ball during the playoffs and will need to continue. Our offensive line has physically controlled the line against 3 quality playoff opponents and that will be the case for this game. If we continue to play discipline Aledo football, we play another week. Interesting note that Abilene and Lubbock Cooper played a close tight game during mid season.

I watched the Abilene/Cooper game. It was a good hard fought game. Cooper was winning at the end but the Abilene offense was clutch and scored when they needed to. I think it should be on youtube if you want to watch it.

I don't think the Abilene Eagles will be able to matchup sizewise to Aledo....but what their skill players lack in size they seem to make up for in execution. Their QB is a senior and a very accurate thrower, and they have a couple of receivers that know how to go up and get the football. That soph. RB #1 is just a good athlete no matter where they play him....he's not very stout but surprisingly a good runner. They will definitely be mixing the run and pass and try to catch Aledo in the wrong defense or coverage. Not all that sure their defense will be able to stop the Bearcat offense, though. I do think their offense will be able to score, but not sure how many points will be needed against Aledo's offense.

Fair or not I view Abilene in the same category as Lubbock Cooper, scrappy, tough, high execution level, opportunistic. However I do think there are plays to be made against them. Step number 1 is hold on to the ball when we are on offense! Getting closer to gameday!

IMAO this will be the best team (except for Guyer) Aledo will have played this season. I think Abilene may have been under some people's radar this season but their playoff play definitely has my attention and respect. It will be a fun game.
