T.J. Dement should be back for this game, Hicks and Hendrix are running strong, and Jaxon has shown good things in the read option. I like the hounds chances, and game weather will be fantastic if the forecast holds. Hounds by a few scores.

I think this is a 1 score game one way or the other and it'll likely be the team who takes care of the ball better and makes a big play on special teams. I do think Boerne is the favorite though but only by about 4 points. The only way I see it being more than a score is if one team is forced into multiple mistakes

Holy crap this shocked me PROJECT A MATCHUP neutral field [2023] La Vernia (TX) 31 (58%), [2023] Boerne (TX) 28 (42%) Tepper did say in his bracktology that the computer really “really” like la vernia to winnthe region. so makes sense y the computer picked them to win. but borene wins this one forsure pulls away late.

Holy crap this shocked me PROJECT A MATCHUP neutral field [2023] La Vernia (TX) 31 (58%), [2023] Boerne (TX) 28 (42%) So much of the prediction stuff is based on matchups, strength of schedule, and such. MaxPreps has consistently had them on the high teens on ranking all year. Boerne played in one of the weakest districts in the state, and besides Antonian and the two 5A coastal bend schools, didn’t play a very tough non district schedule. GP is really their biggest win all year long. Power rankings also don’t give a crap whether the second team played the whole second half in 8/11 games. The Taylor game gives folks some ammo to fire against the Hounds, but this is still a team that returned 11 starters from a squad that had a 21-0 lead in a state final less than a year ago. Gotta play the games and match other teams intensities of course, but I think they’re okay. LaVernia will be a tough out and they’d better be prepared more effectively than they were last week.

I agree with everything you said here. The computers certainly don't see when the 2s came in and what happened after that for sure. Last week's game could have been 16-18 year old kids looking ahead instead of focusing on the round 1 team for sure. The only other head scratchers for me this year were they Uvalde & Antonian games. I was expecting Boerne to put those teams away easier and earlier than they did. I think this week's game comes down to how well LV can throw the ball on Boerne's defense. I honestly think that is LV's only chance of getting a win here. If Boerne can limit the damage there and play good, solid pass defense they will win. I just don't see LV winning this game on the ground. LV is a pretty balanced offense with a few more yards running than passing but I just don't think they are good enough at running it to beat Boerne. Looking at SOS for both teams on MaxPreps LV did play the tougher schedule of the two teams. That said, they do have 2 losses (Sinton & Calhoun) whereas Boerne's only loss came to a 5a D1 team that can really sling it all over the field.

Taylor could have won that game. Baize was ineffective at QB, only thing working was the wildcat with Hendrix. Taylor beat them deep several times.

Interception at the goal line was on him, but the drops weren’t. 4 drops if I remember correctly. His two down the sideline to Perez on one scoring drive were on the money where only Brooks could get to it. But yeah, the wildcat formation hasn’t been stopped by anyone yet unless a penalty made it impractical. QB isn’t a major problem with Boerne, the pass defense is the Achilles heel.

Taylor could have won that game. Baize was ineffective at QB, only thing working was the wildcat with Hendrix. Taylor beat them deep several times. I watched the 1st half. Damn. Gave up an easy score at the end of the half. Again, the run defense for Boerne looks really good but the pass D is not so good. Finally towards the end of the 2nd qtr Boerne was able to run it with some authority. Don't have time to watch the 2nd half nor do I need to I don't think. Boerne is going to have trouble with any team that can throw it and they will get into another shootout much like the one in week 1 with FB. That said, I honestly don't know how good LV's passing game really is and if they can push Boerne or not. I do believe Boerne will shut down LV's run game and LV will have to be able to throw it well to win. I think it may be a really, really good game. We were going to go to it but my better half just told me it is going to be on TV so I'll sit in my lazyboy with a cold adult beverage and watch it on the big TV and have a 2 or 3 other games going on lap top and ipads. lmao

On a side note,La Vernia HC played at Tivy and was the OC at Clemens for a pretty long time.

Weird game to change, I expected La Vernia to beat TM by a lot more than they did, kind of like how they beat the crap out of Beeville. Boerne to me is a good team but not a great team. I think La Vernia takes it..
