Big Cigars are going to have to hope for an oil price spike.

According to the terms of the contract, Texas A&M will owe Fisher $19.2 million within 60 days and then pay him $7.2 annually through 2031. There is no offset or mitigation on those payments, and the annual payments start 120 days after termination. With that kina payout I'm surprised Jimbo had any motivation to win. Unfortunately A&M has set a salary precedent and any coach with half a brain interviewing will demand a fully guaranteed contract buyout POCKET CHANGE for a&m...............literally Good riddance. Now go hire either UTSA head coach or Gary Patterson! A coach that takes players and develops them and gets all they have out of them

I told you Aggies this was going to be the end game when Jimbo was hired and did again when Sharpe and Bjork the AD upped it a couple of years ago with the payday he's cashing in over the next few months. Sharpe should be encouraged to retire after all this and that clown Bjork shouldn't be given an option. But really this should be a lesson (but it won't) for all colleges hoping to jumpstart their programs. And for the record I will be spitting nails if UT turns around and offers Sark a long term deal regardless of the compensation if the Horns finish with one loss here after the Big 12 championship and getting a high tier bowl game outside the playoff bowls because they are not going to the playoff. He's been a wonderful recruiter, but still can't close out a game to save his life. Two weeks of watching double digit leads go down to the wire and then some has been bad for the blood pressure and I fully expect it again against a blah Iowa State team.

Yup UT has something wrong with them the way they get leads and blow them And, are you forgetting how much UT paid off the last 2 coaches before Sark? Wasn't that about 50m or so or a little more. So stop it already with the i told you so BS

And no I am not going to stop with the I told you so BS. I can't forget all the whooping and hollering the Aggie faithful did after they got Jimbo.... From greeting him at the College Station airport with an arrival ceremony fit for a visiting head of state to the "We got Jimbo" memes and such, it was WAY overboard for a coach that not even the Florida State Big cigars and alums tried to save or really cared to after the fact. There is a reason for that and I even said so at the time... But we got Jimbo....

Tom Herman's was "only" $15.4 million.... For comparisons sake.

But no to Patterson, He is just Jimbo light but on the defensive side who is too stubborn to change his ways. Hopefully, A&M will make a smart educated hire and not just throw another $100 million at the big fish hire.

I’m sure the cigars want to flirt with an Urban Meyer type but I think JT has shown he can coach well at the NCAA level, is an offense mind that won’t settle for something that isn’t working, and his recruiting would be superb here at home especially in East TX

And the one before that you seem to be conveniently forgetting. $10.4 Million 15.4 Tom + 10.4 Charlie 25.8 Million for two Texas coaching contract buyouts I will round it up to $26 million so that would make Texas about $50 Million smarter than A&M?

Huge congrats then on the win Do you think A&M is gonna miss that money? If you do, you aren't nearly as bright as I thought. And it still amazes me the amount of hate you have for a&m. But I guess it shouldn't since most of the time it is t-shirt fans like you with absolutely 0 ties to a school that acts this way.

I posted this a few years ago. UT paid out around $50 million for Mack, Herman, and Strong. texxas5asports.proboards.com/post/306284/threadSo you are only $25 million in savings vs A&M. But don't be surprised if Sarkisian uses the Jimbo deal to get himself a raise and a buyout increase.

Jimbo’s ranch is in Franklin, and I bet his investments and spending will find its way back to some big cigars. Lots of wells still producing gas out that way too…of course all speculative. It isn’t my money going to the TMF so what the rich folks do with their’s is what it is.

But I guess it shouldn't since most of the time it is t-shirt fans like you with absolutely 0 ties to a school that acts this way. For the hundredth time or so, I'm hardly a Tshirt fan. My late Mom and Dad went to UT and my dad was UT law also a member of the Silver Spurs. I was listening to Longhorn football while I was being fed to sleep by mom and dad as a baby. And had I not fallen in love in Nov 1991 with the gal who would be my wife of 30 years next August, six months later I would've been at UT and I'd have the Texas Ex Sticker on the back of my Truck. But I was in damn love with the girl obviously and stayed at A&I. Do I think A&M is going to miss the money? Probably not. Are they going to be wiser not to spend that for the next coach? I don't know? I would hope they are for all the fallout this experiment has shown. But who the heck knows? I don't hate A&M, my Uncle is an Aggie and some of my lifelong best friends who are like Brothers and Sisters to me are Aggies.
