Had a great discussion with coaches on Twitter about 2-a days, most don't think it's needed with the summer rules being loosened, 7on7 etc

Coaches also didnt give kids water back in the day too, evolving isn't always a bad thing The UIL I believe is changing their recommendations regarding the heat and participation, but ultimately the decision still lies at the local level and I believe one of the Texas A&M trainers was using the A&M protocols..but I confirmed there was equipment malfunction and after that first delay, the tournament proceeded without interruption www.uiltexas.org/health/info/heat-stress-and-athletic-participationI never said evolving was always bad What I'm saying is that kids today are SOFT and they are that way because of soft parents! FACT When Soza came to Alice in his first year, me and a couple of other guys went to a practice. We all looked at each other in disbelief thinking the guy lost his mind . thinking Alice would go 0-10. After practice, we all met up and Chris explained that per UIL rules and these kids being inside all day playing video games, half of them would be dead lol.

lmao heat delay for a touch football game! hilarious I don't remember any of those heat delays for long afternoon practices in the August/September sun back in the day. Further proof of the soft society we live in today. These kids would have had absolutely no trouble playing in this. It is the adults! smdh Just like the participation ribbon garbage, we can only blame ourselves. Todays kids just don’t go out looking for work like we did back in the day. Fricken Mc Donald’s is now paying $15 and teens snub their noses at it. And God forbid they have to work outside in this heat. Let’s take a look at football drills are held now. Two a days are pretty much shelved only because now, most schools start the second week of August , so that takes them out of the elements. Then to top it off, as more schools build indoor facilities, practices get moved to the ceiling fan cooled metal buildings. Amen Pico!!!! Hell, I can remember back in elementary school there were 3 of us that competed at a pretty close level for the blue ribbon in the events.........Hell, I honestly don't remember what color 2nd & 3rd were and truly none of us 3 gave two chits what color those 2 places were because if it wasn't blue it wasn't worth taking home. It is just the way it was back then. If you were 2nd you were 1st loser!!! There is no doubt we were raised much different then most kids are today. I'm glad we were tough on our two kids and they don't get their panties in a wad if someone calls em a name or gets on them for doing something wrong.

As much as I miss those days with my two boys, I don’t miss this at all. Baseball parents are the worst. And it’s usually the mom who is the most vocal of the the two parents. Lmao! I’m glad my third and last one decided to go the band route. It’s fun to watch her do her thing without much parental drama. What drama there is involves who is going to work a band contest, etc. I can handle that with no problem after Two tours of duty with my boys . Lol! I don't know. Remember those piccolo players can be ferocious. Flute players to FBf! My daughter was and still is a mean sonofagun when someone gets on her bad side. lol

It was just as hot back in the day but the difference was we were outside from daylight til dark every day of summer and a good number of us spent that time hauling square bales all summer long.
