Cleburne Ellison Granbury Killeen Lake Belton Midlothian Red Oak Shoemaker Waco
Interesting mashup of DFW schools and Super Cen-Tex schools, some coming down from 6A, one coming up from 4A and playing UIL HS football for the first time, and with only one of these teams making the postseason last year (in whichever class they were in).
As a Shoemaker supporter, travel wise this wouldn’t have been my ideal district TBH but here we are.
Give your thoughts/predictions on this district.

I think personally Red Oak, Midlothian, Shoemaker and Lake Belton are the 4 playoff teams....Ellison is the one from the bottom part of the district who I think could sneak up...Waco may be one of the state's most improved teams, I expect them to win 4-5 games this season

Don't know a whole lot about most of these teams. But I agree with Matt on the playoff teams from what I have seen. Knew a little about the Killeen schools but with the opening of Killeen Chaparral I'm not sure how much these teams will be affected.

I tell people this a bit, if you do your research you’ll see that SuperCentex teams over the past 20 years tend to do very well in 5A (or 4A as it was called back then.)

Knew a little about the Killeen schools but with the opening of Killeen Chaparral I'm not sure how much these teams will be affected. Most of the kids going to Chaparral are either transplants from Ellison/Harker Heights, with the incoming freshmen being “would’ve been “ Ellison/Heights kids. So Ellison will be most affected eventually but not all that much next year and probably the year after, since they’re the closest HS to Chaparral.

Guess it didn't hit Heights too bad since they remained 6A.

Shoemaker and Killeen HS dropped about 400 students.

I remember hearing how severely overcrowded Ellison was....they were over 3200 kids in 2020 snapshot.....its one of the older KISD campuses so I bet the campus was built maybe to hold 2500 kids max??

That sounds about right, I’ve been in there a couple of times and no way that school can hold 3000+ consistently with no expansion of the school structure.

I hope they can make a run and get in the tournament but recent history says probably not.
