Man I miss scouting down in Mercedes, Pharr, and Edcouch. The food there was always good! I would volunteer to go down there to scout for playoffs, just to go eat.

True, my favorite Mexican food place is in Roma Texas. I used to fish down on Lake Falcon quite often and would drive to Roma just to eat at "El Mexicano"

Las Vegas Cafe in Harlingen is one the best for enchiladas . Look forward to my pregame meal there when we play La Feria down there this year. Stadium foods are great too, especially in the smaller ISD's .

South of there in Weslaco is some fantastic places primarily Case De Mariscos and Arturos ( owned by the same family who owns the legend across the border) . In Pharr there is another good place on the way to Valley View. I forgot it's name right now.

The one in Pharr I was trying to remember also, it's been way too long since I went there... I just remember it was hecka good and a ton of food for very little money...

Although nothing ever beat the all you can eat spread at PLC in the press box... fresh seafood, chicken fried steaks, all the sides... that was another one I volunteered for! Up here, I've been glad to go scout in Fredericksburg so I can stop in Llano at Coopers lol...

What's a good place there? We play at Zapata this year and I thought about stopping at Franks Cafe in Hebbronville, but the last I heard they had not reopened thanks to the Covid thing. So we might have to tough it out all the way to Zapata for pre game.

It has Enchiladas rice beans a taco and a huge chicken fried steak. The Gravy mixed with the Enchiladas is so good. Place is definately a go too place. Next place was "The Steak House" american food, Good but a little bit more pricy. El Rincon is another good Restaurant a little smaller place but great owners. Go past Hebbronville, trust me! The school and stadium is the first thing you see comming into Zapata.

Opposing scouts, eyes in the sky coaches, media, and announcers all welcome to eat up there. When I was privileged to eat up there, I was scouting for Beeville.

So the other day I was driving through Bruceville Eddy to and from Waco. They have a restaurant there called the Eagles Nest..... They had some dang good food! The plates are the size of platters, and the Chicken Fried steak covered the entire plate!!!! They had to bring the sides on a separate plate. It reminded me of the old 624 restaurant from the 80s that is now a Mexican restaurant.
