Final Brahmas 42 Cameron Yoe 38 Looks like Yoe is improving and will be better by far next season. Yup You bet they are improving and it took a heck of an effort for Hallettsville to get it done.

Coach Gordon Wood's grandmother Mary Polly Selman Wood is buried in the cemetery in Hallettsville is the reason they won. I just can't resist it. Actually Coach Gordon Leaner Wood is 3rd cousin once removed of Texas Gunfighter John Henry Selman who killed John Wesley Hardin in El Paso. John Henry Selman was killed a month later by George Scarborough and John Henry Selman is buried in the same cemetery as John Wesley Hardin. You live by the gun, you die by the gun. George Scarborough was killed later in Arizona. I did some research work for Leon Metz a history professor at UTEP. He passed away a year ago of Covid 19.

Do you remember calcats post when Coach Rhoades first came in to GP and she posted she has it from a good source that Coach Rick Rhoades hates it at GP. Seems chino had something about like that that from someone he knew. I think the coach before Coach Rhoades found he had made a mistake after he was at GP for a while. He walked into a Hornets nest. I remember about the 3rd game after Coach Anastacio took over and had a bunch of 165 pounders in his defense line and they were overmatched but giving it all they had in effort and a guy in front of me said the problem is the coaching. He did not get the coach he wanted. Long time GP fan and grad Wayne Coffoe did not have the coach he wanted and was vocal about it. May he RIP. The teachers at GP did not have the coach they wanted. The assistant coaches at GP did not have the coach they wanted. It was a recipe for disaster. Coach Matt Anastacio landed on his feet at Llano. Will Coach Rhoades land on his feet at Yoe. Remains to be seen.

Coming into a hostile workplace with a couple coaches won’t work against a entrenched failing program. Davis demanded it and got it Rhoades and Anastacio walked into a mess with no ability to beat them. They learned a hard lesson that Davis learned long ago.

Odessa Permian has the best policy. Fire all the coaches and hire new ones , Coach Matt Anastacio was not the first to discover to late he had stepped into it. There was a very good coach came from Brenham who quit after 3 days and did not have another job to go to. GPJohn posted he wished that Coach George Harris had coached another year even after the Calallen Cabinis fiasco meltdown exposed the sub standard coaching at GP. Senile old goat has a memory like a elephant.

You should have seen it before Coach Darren Allman took it over. There were only 10 applicants for the job. I suspect the athletes are going to Midland. The old HS Bronchos are worse. I would not want to live in Odessa. One t time I was there, they had a good team and I watched them them play the WF Coyotes.

Wichita Falls HS Coyotes. They built a new stadium but the one over on the Seymour Hwy was called the Canyon. The Coyotes ran the Single Wing and the QB was a blocking back. Actually the popular spread is single wing. DC’s hated to defense the old single wing. They very seldom threw a pass. The Coyotes were the winningest playoff team until Refugio knocked them out of first place.Coach Josh Mann the present coach at Rouse was assistant under Coach Chris Ross the present coach at Lucas Lovejoy when they were at Wichita Falls HS. Coach Ross has a running back, Jaxson Lavender that has a grand father Jay Lavender who played football as a WF Coyote. Jay and his brother Keith Lavender were both on my dads boxing team at The WF Boys club.
I am a Wichita Falls Coyote and raised 3 GP Wildcats and my wife is a Alice Coyote and she raised 2 Sinton Pirates. When we got married we combined Dens in Sinton and our offspring Yotes are scattered from Portland to Bastrop and Pasadena and Katy and Cedar Park and Portland.

Sounds like you got a big pack, enjoy your time on the roads watching sports all over Texas. As I’ve grown older Ive taken in bits of wisdom offered to me by wiser men and women than me. The one Tid Bit that I latched on to is, Never waste your time by sweating the small stuff and focus on the big Picture. On my dying day the only thing that matters is family. Not money Not possessions Not a football forum. I just come in here to take a small amount of my time of a busy day to enjoy myself, occasionally give a opinion but mostly to read others posts. You have lived, at least so far, a long very interesting life. You have basically told your story of a lifetime of some funny, thought producing and at times controversial moments in that lifetime of memories. You should of wrote the book called the Life and Memories of WF Coyotes. I get a kick out of reading most of what you write and do understand why you wrote it and recognize why others don’t. I know you deeply want the best for all athletes at GP and at time critical about other who impact those young ones. Don’t sweat the small stuff and focus on the big picture. You cannot control everything, stay lazer focused on what you can control and then give all your effort to do good work for those that cannot do it for themselves.

The WF Coyotes has the inner school disease and is a has been. A situation at a school where conditions deteriorate to a unacceptable level is created by a poorly run administration and school board that fails their student body. The taxpayers of Wichita Falls need to demand Those individuals to do better for their students.

They have 2 new schools Rider and Hershi and both are still in the playoffs. Coyotes have won several State Championships and the last one I saw was in 1971 and Lee had a QB named Tommy Kramer and they won 28 to 27. Tommy played at Rice and was first round pick of Vikings. Many of the small schools around WF are doing good.
