Aledo softball had a great run and lost in the state game to Barbers Hill. They join these Aledo teams that made the state game/tournament and fell just short. I'd bet there are other Aledo teams but I did not find the information on the UIL site.

We have so many entries for football it would make many of us cry about how close Cal was to capturing the prize on a couple of occasions. Those battles with La Marque were just epic and it's really a shame to see La Marque a shadow of it's former self. And of course our battle with Aledo can't go unmentioned.... Big time underdog and a had a few breaks go against us for which a great team made us pay for them and came up short. None the less earned a ton of respect leaving the field that night.
While we have three baseball titles, it could have very well been a few more on top of those. Can't recall all the details, but the one and done at the state tourney either wins it all or loses it all no matter how good that W/L record looks going in. It just takes a very good day for the other team or very bad day for yours for that W/L to be forgotten.
The girls softball playoffs of the last two seasons have been recent and last year had Covid not messed things up, I think they probably would have made the state tourney. They had one of the best pitchers in the state throwing lights out when the season was called..
Not to forget the girls soccer team made state this spring for the first time in Calallen soccer history. It wasn't too long ago they were struggling to win much less make a .500 record or dominate like they did this season.
Pre dates my time here, but the Girls Basketball teams won state and made some deep runs where they fell short at Austin. Don't know the exact numbers.

Those Calallen girls basketball teams in the early 90βs were straight powerhouses and could compete with anybody in the state. Shame we lost that coach she was damn good.

For me it was 2011 for Steele. This was probably the only playoff game I watched Jinks get worked. He simply didn't have our kids ready to play at all and said as much afterwards. There are no second chances in title games but I have no doubt if there were we'd have ended the year 16-0 instead of 15-1. Heartbreaker for those kids when they knew they should have went back to back.
2016 was yet another huge disappointment. 2 losses and both to the 6a champs (LT in week 2 & DeSoto in the finals). Many fans would love to see a 14-2 year but to me it was extreme disappointment as that senior class was simply ridiculous.
