I'm putting this here because I think it pertains to all classifications. Since being in the Brazos Valley I have seen mostly versions of the spread offense being ran by teams in this area. And by following along with several forums believe it is this was across most of the state. Now with 7 on 7 really gaining momentum and most schools participating I wonder how long it will be before Run First Smash Mouth football will be extinct OR make a comeback. There seem to be fewer run first teams every year.
Another thing I've noticed is the defenses on more and more spread teams are getting soft. As an old FB I hope good run first teams don't go the way of the dinosaur and Man Vs Man get the yard football keeps a toe hold in this era of trick'em, Chuck and Duck Offense. Spread also slows the game way down.
Love the old more run than pass Offenses we ran back when I played in the early 80's. Teams with defenses that attacked the Offense instead read and react.

Some teams still wins titles by smashing your face up front first and then burning you over the top with a pass here and there. See Katy High for the best example.

Wish a bunch more teams did that. Katy still plays football . Not the 11 on 11 version of 7 on 7. OH, And Katy plays solid defense too.
