Kind of surprised Cal only wanted a 1 game series. IMO all playoff series should be 2 out of 3. It seems to me that Chapman chose a 1-game playoff because that gives Calallen the best chance to advance. Chapman has been coaching a long time and is doing what he thinks is best for Calallen. Sinton has a much better pitching staff with more depth that would favor them in a 3-game series. A one-game playoff would put Lamkin vs Wiatrek in a winner-take-all situation. I still think Sinton wins as their bats are hot right now and they seem to have better hitters 1-9 than Calallen does. However, with Lamkin on the mound, Calallen could pull this one off. Good luck to both teams! I plan on being there Thursday night… I've usually seen a team go for a 1 gamer if they were afraid to take on a team in a series. Didn't expect Cal to lack confidence against any team.

I didn’t say Calallen lacked confidence. Chapman has been coaching high school baseball over 30 years. He knows what his team has and he knows what his opponents have. Why do you think he chose a 1-game playoff?

I was informed at Church this morning by a Sinton teacher and a lady who works at the school that Sinton Coach wanted a series but lost the coin toss and Calallen chose a one game playoff. Sinton May use Wyatt Wistrk but I might be tempted to see if Cal could hit Galvan’s 95 mph fast ball. It will most likely be Wyatt Wiatrek with Blake Mitchell coming in if needed both top out around 93mph with breaking pitches to go with it. Jaquae Stewart has a 0.00 era and 5-0 from left side but to valuable at 1st base. Braeden Brown and only Sr on the team Daniel Trevino are high upper 80's with breaking pitches pretty darn good. Mitchell has only given up 1 run this season it was late in the game against Boerne. Galvan's can both pitch but not needed. They also have 5 freshman on the team. Sinton Players Committed -Texas Rylan Galvan 22’ C/INF, LSU Blake Mitchell 23’ C/SS/P, LSU Wyatt Wiatrek 22’P/RF, Alabama Cannon Chester 22’ RF/3B/1B, Sam Houston St Braeden Brown 23’ P/INF and TAMUK Daniel Trevino 21’ P/INF. TBD-Rene Galvan 22’ OF and Jaquae Stewart 23’ 1B/P

Why do you think he chose a 1-game playoff? One game at this late stage of the playoffs will benefit the winner as they get to rest up couple of days more before semifinal game on Wednesday and winner will be the #1 seed in state tourney so will face either the #3 or #4 seed. Time to face the best of the other team going forward if you want to advance. Good luck to both, both have played an outstanding season and are right where they expected to be... a shot at the state tourney.

Coach Adrian Alaniz played for a very good coach in HS and been around baseball for awhile.
April 16, 2005 One of the greatest moments in Adrian's life (and in Longhorns baseball history) came on this day last season. Facing Big 12 rival Oklahoma, Adrian threw only the 19th no-hitter by a University of Texas pitcher since 1946. After seeing the zeroes on the scoreboard going into the sixth inning, he began to realize the unthinkable was within reach. To avoid any kind of jinx, his teammates left him alone while he sat in the same spot in the dugout and drank the same amount of water in between innings. Hey, whatever works. "Baseball in our Blood" The Sinton, Texas native comes from a baseball-loving family. His dad, Emi Jr., was a former high school baseball coach and his older brother, Emi III, was an outfielder and designated hitter at Texas State University. His younger brother, Andres, also plays baseball at Sinton High School, and mom, Norma, is always cheering loudly in the stands. In summary, the Alanizes eat, sleep and breathe baseball

Didn't expect Cal to lack confidence against any team. I don't think it has anything to do with being afraid of anyone. It is knowing your team and your strengths and weaknesses as well as your opponents. If your opponent is deeper than you on the mound than it is a no brainer to go for a 1 game winner takes all.
