Interesting is definitely the word for it. Texas had 49 teams on the list. Longview also made it.

Been watching some spring game highlights, 7 on 7 replays, and whatnot...
I firmly believe the the Vets offense is going to be explosive. There won’t be much of a drop off (if any at all) from last year’s scoring ability. Look for a huge improvement in yards/scores from the rb position. If I’m not mistaken, Tracy Jones will see lots of time at rb... and I’m kinda thinking he might be the little brother of recent star rb, Frank Jones (I could be wrong, but I think I’m not). Durrette is a very capable qb, De La Pena is still there, and newcomer Luke Johnson will also see time at wr. There’s lots of speed on that O.
Edit: Tracy Jones is not Frank Jones little brother. Tracy is a DUDE all on his own.

Would really like to see a CC area team compete consistently at the higher levels.

College Station is the team to beat in 8-5A DI, they will be loaded. Although Lufkin loses several key senior starters from 2020, QB, RB, WR, DL & OL. They will be better overall in 2021. Injuries, depth, inexperience and just plain lack of overall talent played a huge part in the team finishing 6-5 last season. Losing a few of those folks to graduation was not a bad thing in some respects. The 2020 season was just a down year, with inexperience and injuries to key senior players.
Better is on the way for 2021, and although Lufkin will still be young and inexperienced at a few of those key spots mentioned, the potential and overall depth will be there to be pretty competitive in 2021, for sure a better finish than 6-5. The next few years should be fun to watch for Panther fans, we may see some of that young talent start to emerge this season. Having three outstanding QB options for the Varsity moving up will be a nice option to have for Lufkin. Two are sophomore's and the other a junior. There are two more on the way from the MS system. Lufkin grows there own and doesn't depend on the transfer portal for 99% of their players, or do they lose players because there are no big football schools within 60 miles of Lufkin.

I wish I could say CP, but with the departure of almost all our coaches and graduating a ton of talent on offense, I’d be really surprised and actually shocked if we got close to DFW let alone win district next year!!

College Station returns 7 starters on Offense and 6 on Defense. Most were all district players last year. DCTF has them picked to finish at the top of the district and I see no reason to doubt that. No other team in the district returns as much.
