Looking at Calhoun Schedules it looks like Calhoun will not have the JV Black team this year. There is no schedule posted for them. Still have both Freshman teams rolling though. First time I can remember when Calhoun didn't have the Sophomore team.

First time I can remember when Calhoun didn't have the Sophomore team. They could be struggling to get the games for that team. I know when I was coaching public schools, "JV B" was the hardest schedule to fill. We sometimes would schedule them week to week. As strong as PLC's program is, I don't see kids wanting to leave it. I do see though being a lower classification being an issue finding those other small schools having enough kids to form 2 JV teams. The only schools I can see doing that would be Miller and Calallen, Possibly Alice.

I think Moody and Ray will be good games. I worry about Rockport because they are always tough for TM. The valley schools will definitely show if TM has bought into the new coach by then. But the true test is what do the kids do after Calallen. They have Calhoun immediately after that game so 2 losses in a row could set them back to old TM ways. If they come out and compete vs. Calhoun then it's possible the new coach has gotten their focus off of just Calallen. That could make for an interesting last 3 weeks. If they go 5-5 (not starting 5-0 though) or 6-4 with Calallen in the middle of the season, that coach will win the kids over. If he gets them to 7-3, the community will start to buy in. If he goes 4-6 or worse, I see the community turning on him and turning TM back to their old selves. I see the changes in the TM admin and community Chino mentioned previously, and they have been positive ones so far. I want this regime to succeed.

I'm not expecting T-M to win all those games but it is IMO possible. T-M has done a pretty good job of competing with Calhoun for the first half of the last several games. seems like the wheels start to fall off in the second half. Calhoun has always had issues finding games for the 2nd JV and 2nd Freshman teams. Tend to double up with VW and some games with FB. But I think the numbers are just not there this year for the 2nd JV. Most times those Sub Varsity Calhoun teams had around 25-30 kids. But I liked that more kids got to play in games and not just be tackling dummies at practice all the time.

Didn't pay attention lately.

Sorry, but being leaned on by a bigger and stronger front tends to wear the other team out and that usually shows up towards the end of the 3rd quarter. This is exactly what Katy has done to opponents time and again the last 30 years. How many times I'd look at my Friday Night app and there is a team hanging right with the Tigers and within a score or so at halftime and then you look at the final and they win 63-7. The PLC teams I've seen are typically big up front and then you add to that the offense they run and it simply wears defenses completely out and all of a sudden those 3 yard gains up the gut by the FB turn into jail breaks 50+ yards to the house. That is why I such a huge fan of a strong run game and great defense.

Come the scrimmage didn't go that way. I posted play by play and you disappeared for weeks.

I'll try to remember to ask about scrimmage location then.
