Well - can’t get anyone willing to play us a series and our coin flipping luck hasn’t been good. Calallen vs Hondo. One game Friday night at 7pm at Jourdanton. Go Cats! As wet as it's forecasted to be later this week across much of the state, a number of three game series might end up being one gamers for both baseball and softball. All teams who have series better play the first as it might be the last. Playing a one game playoff definitely has its benefits as far as moving on to the next round and the weather. But I have to wonder if Chapman might be concerned about the pitching rotation and keeping those other pitchers other than your ace pitcher active.

Chapman has always favored the three gamers regardless of depth. Seems like the underdogs are always going for the the one gamers, especially if they have at least one decent arm. Recall a few years ago when Alice had a very good arm who I think was 16-0 going into their playoff with Moody and they won the flip and went for a one gamer. Moody begged for a three game series, even offered to play all three in Alice and ended up getting blanked in the playoff game. Moody was ranked number one in the nation.

Agreed yes putting it all in one game levels the odds for a team with not much depth with quality pitchers. Calallen got a great pitcher and good backups. My question is how is Chapman utilizing those backups when in both of the one gamers Cal has used his ace in both games?

Who are the other starters for Calallen? Next round Canyon Lake or Navarro will most likely do a series

At least on paper from what I can tell it might give Chappy some flexibility to go with the #2 arm. Now if the bats were not producing, it would probably be advisable to go with the #1 arm. Sooner or later the #2 arm will have to be utilized again and you can't let him stay cold on the bench too long. You get to Austin, you have to make that choice on whether you save the ace for the 'ship and most choose to throw the ace in the first game at the state tourney because you have to win that one to play the last one.

I have to believe Chap has a plan. Not his first time around the planet in this situation. And you are absolutely right about getting to the tourney. It turns into one gamers at that point. Let’s see how the boys respond. #3timestatechampions #workingon4 #wearecalallen

If we get by Sweeny have a feeling Alice/TM will go for a 1 game.

imo moving down to play smaller schools isn't good for calallen. GP girls won district title in soccer for 5 years strait and vets was really salty as well. I know alot of the girls on Calallens girls team. They are a great bunch of young girls. What does soccer have to do with a Baseball thread??? Calallen has no control over the cutoff for 4A and 5A. Calallen can only report their student numbers. Cough cough 😎

Calcatgirl God willing and the creek don't rise, Sinton has 5 pitchers and they may be happy to play Calallen in a series in a couple of weeks.

Supposed to see 5-7" between now and Saturday throughout much of South Central TX. Then again, what other job in America allows you to be wrong 90% of the time and still have a job besides a meteorologist? ROFLMAO

I live in Arlington and it's been raining past couple of days, heading to Corpus area tomorrow and hopefully see some baseball starting Thursday. Now there is turf fields , quite a few now so that will help with still getting games in.

All of these turf fields in places like Jourdanton, Freer, Kennedy, etc. are realizing their purpose this time of year. I'm old school and prefer dirt and grass for baseball and softball, but for the kids sake I'm glad these places are available. At least the Frio, Medina, Guadalupe, etc will getting some prime water just in time for the summer! Can't wait for my trips up there in June and July!

First time in several years stock tanks here are actually full to the spillways and we have some good bottom moisture heading into the first part of summer. I was on the brink of selling about 10-12 calves way too soon 3 weeks ago because of lack of grass and now can let them go another month or a little more and get them to about 500 lb average. I tell anybody that wishes the rain would stop to go buy a good pair of rubber boots because I'd rather feed and check cows in the mud and have grass to cut and bale than not have any at all.
