I disagree he let athletes run rampid and didn't have a disciplined program at all. The Las AD also put handcuffs with teachers contracts so coaches couldn't be moved around much. The New AD is supposed to change all that Come on now King. So, Rhoades has been known in the past to run a tight ship but he got to GP and just let the kids do whatever they wanted, right? AD? I thought Rhoades what GPs Athletic Director and HC? Do you mean district Superintendent because I've never heard of an AD having anything to do with any other employee's contracts at a school. His hands were tied from the start is what I think and it didn't take him long to figure that out. Well its true.

Want to try that again King?

The AD doesn’t set policy and no AD hamstrings the next AD. Want to try that again King? The comment was on the fact that the program did not have discipline and kids were allowed to be late and not show up at times. Top athletes were given passes and others not so much.

On to the Davis program, I’m hearing he’s got some of his staff headed to GP in a week or two. He’s still looking to hire a couple more.

I don’t know the terms of their contracts but I was told he’s assembling his staff now. I’m sure most are asst coaches and that might be easier to be released from their current contract at the current school. A HC would be a different situation.

His hands were tied from the start is what I think and it didn't take him long to figure that out. I saw the interview of Rhodes at the Yoe school board meeting announcing his return. It was apparent he's relieved to be back at that job. It's occurred in the coaching fraternity where a darn good coach went elsewhere and little to nothing good occurred on their watch. Sometimes promises made by others where not kept as in GP's case. Or the community just refuses to adapt to a new way of thinking despite talking the talk. The coach seems to be a minor part of the lack of success because he won before he got the job and then he moves on to another job and wins again. The key for GP will be if they FINALLY learned a lesson from the last decade or so mediocrity . This might be their last shot to get it right.

My son came home from practice yesterday and went into the details of how this new Athletic Director is making kids work hard, puke, and even quit! Is this Brent Davis making them EARN IT?! Melts my heart 😁 That's all!

Jack will probably stay at where he is at don't you think? Rick is back at Yoe to get them back into the playoffs sooner than later. Jack eventually will rejoin him at Yoe probably as OC in the near future. I don’t see Rick coaching more than 2-3 yrs then the next Rhoades will be HC at Yoe. Don’t be surprised at how fast he turns the program around. The Supt at Yoe really fudged it up and is now wanting Rick to fix Yoe again. Rick did want the money at GP but he did want to build a good program at GP. Ricks problem at GP was he never had a decent QB to build his offense around and he had to deal with all talk, no action admins who did very little to help him. So Rhoades's DC was head coach and AD while he went to GP. As soon as he left GP that coach stepped down to allow Rhoades to have it back. It's an interesting situation there. I know the superintendent there and it was a done deal immediately.

Don't be surprised if Davis gets a similar set up at G-P where his OC and DC dont teach classes

Sounds like the same thing I heard when Coach Anaststacio came in and changed from a soft program to a dicipline day Program. One GP player told his grandpa “They are killing us”. They made the playoffs the next 5 years. Then the transition to a soft program and 5 years without making the playoffs. GP91, it sounds like GP has some slackers. It appears that some players at the end of the season are not in condition. It sounds like GP has some slackers. If your not Navy Seal tough you have no business going out for football. Thank you Coach Davis for revealing the problem at GP. Football is the last bastion of manliness.

It’s going to take some time because a lot of people don’t like change! Time will tell!
