Been awhile since I watched the game. But I do remember them getting more flags thrown their way. I remember seeing them commit more penalties too. But I don't think it's why they lost. Hey Coach, Teach them not to commit those penalties and it won't happen again.

More penalties or not in the second half, a combination of horrible play calling and Lindale adjusting to their scheme did them in.
They need to let this go because we can go back a few games and see a bunch of stuff that maybe SHOULD have been called against them that wasn’t.

There is a critical shortage of high school sports officials/referees. This shortage is mostly due to harsh criticism from parents and fans, including physical altercations and death threats. Until the UIL and other sports organizations in Texas get stiffer punishment for criminal acts, the shortage will get worse. Is there an underground referee bribery scam going on? Some entity paying low paid Refs to throw games?

I don’t think any life lessons will be taught here. Is there racism in America? Yes.
I watched this game, fact is, coaching and player mistakes cost LBJ this game, not the refs.
I think there are battles to fight, but this is not one of them.

This is one of the most 2020 things of the year. We’ve all had a case at some point.

I hope the last part is not true, but shady stuff has occurred for decades on a very small scale and I think the fact that everyone now has a camera and videos uploaded to You Tube, we are able to see stuff and we automatically want to assign bad motives to it. I think you are correct it’s part of the shortage in the Ref/Ump ranks that has been going on for several years now and thus because of this many Refs are having to call Varsity games without moving up the ranks. And within in one Ref crew, your most experienced Ref might only have a few years experience himself. In other words you don’t see too many silver haired Refs calling games like back in the day it seemed the whole crew was older dude with a couple of younger ones to mentor. Sadly this the way it goes now a days in many professions such as law enforcement, military, etc. and the organizations are struggling due to lack of Seniority . Mentoring is becoming a lost aspect. The UIL needs to take strong action to protect Refs thanks to the Edinburg thug.

No sympathy here......teach your team to commit less penalties. Lindane won and deserved to advance.

18 penalties to 2 is a huge discrepancy without a doubt.
I hope and pray there was nothing illegal, malicious, racist, or anything else involved and it is proven there wasn't.

LBJ's coach panicked in the 2nd half. The Jags were a far superior team to Lindale, but they had been heavily penalized all year long so like teams that depend on the 3 in basketball get cold or on big plays in football some times things do not work out. The Jags coaches choked away the title game. They will not have the talent level w/o the LASA kids that stayed on the team because they won't be there and they will have about 700-800 kids this year. They are headed for Reaganville with no players.

LBJ and LASA split before the start of last season which is why LBJ moved to 4A D1 level, so talent level and personnel will be a non issue this next season. Look for another big run this year and years to come.
