I have my opinion on our, "the future is bright" claims we've been making in Alice for years expectations compared to reality. We see all this great talent and winning done for years by the younger Youth through 9th grade teams and it's legit but the problem those teams have isn't something that shows itself at the younger grades as much as it does at the Varsity level and that's - Offensive and Defensive line play. With all the skill position talent Alice has if they can ever get the Line play on that same level they will be a legit threat to be in round 4 and beyond. I remember a few years ago they were big and were winning those Summer lineman challenges! Who was running Alice’s OL & DL then? Shorts and shirts is completely different than Friday nights with pads.

My question would be are all of those kids actually making it to the varsity level or are they lost to attrition? If I remember correctly you guys had a really good group coming up that should have already made an impact on varsity but that seemed to fizzle. That group was juniors this season and the main reason they won games. They will be seniors next season and will be better than they were this season. The skill kids are all legit. It's the line play that's a question. Like I said problems at the Line aren't something that are gonna show themselves at the younger ages as much as it will at Varsity. That's just my opinion on why they win so much at the younger levels making their fan's expectations go through the roof. Sounds feasible. I also think that Covid screwed Alice’s season from the beginning. They started late, only got a partial season. I would think it would be tough to get any kind of rhythm or gel due to the way it went. Alice should be in much better shape next season.

Alice with a full season would have been competing for the district title and that would have been with an underclassmen dominated team so that should tell you how good they could be next season.

Chino, is this lack of good line play due to size, lack of work maybe in the weight room, coaching, players that maybe don't continue to play through their senior year, or a combination of some of these? To me coaching is huge when it comes to both offensive and defensive line play. Both technique and the mental aspect that has to be instilled in the kids.

Calallen returns 3 offensive linemen, fullback, QB (several battling for this), 3 defensive linemen, all linebackers and most of secondary. We have some holes to fill on both sides of the line and kicker. There are some ones coming up from JV. Wow That is a ton of kids coming back!!! If I count correctly that is 5 on offense and at least 8 on defense??? IF that is the case defensively I don't see how this group next year is not the best defense in R4 with the coaching they get there!

I’m not sure how the interior line will be but they’ve got a few kids on defense that are straight up ballers. This should be a very good year in the defensive side. Also, I’ve always believed that Cal offense goes as the QB goes. The best Cal teams have always had a QB that can run well. That position should be in good shape next season.

Hearing that Camarillo qb transferred back to Alice!! With the season he was able to have at SD, Alice is gonna be a force to reckon with next year. A young team full of great athletes. With them losing their senior QB Guzman, Camarillo will be able to take the reigns and lead the coyotes. Similar play style to Guzman, but with a more accurate and stronger arm. He will only be a sophomore next year which should give him even more time to learn and take over the district. With receivers like Salas, Molina, Vasquez, Ortiz, Ledesma, Arellano, the air attack will be better than we’ve ever seen. Teams like Calallen, Miller, PL, all losing their biggest key players. I got Alice playing for the District Title next season.

Calallen loses one key RB, but there are two coming back and numerous other starters including the QB who was hitting his stride when he got hurt.

Cal is losing a few but they have enough coming back to field a really good team next year. Highly likely they don’t drop off any and have potential to be even better.

He didn't say winning the district title..just playing for it. I think Calallen will be the best team with what they have coming back. I still think Miller will be a little better than Alice with what they have coming back. Adkism could very well be the best athlete in the district..the kid is explosive.

If he stays healthy and puts in the work he could really be something to see.

I should have said in contention not necessarily playing for it. I guess my point was they could have been better if not for the situation..

With as many young guys as Alice played with last year there is no doubt they will field a better squad. Those young guns got to compete against a really good LBJ team and they now know what good looks like and where they need to be. Hopefully we get a more stable season this next one.

I think any normal season Alice would be right up there for district. It will be interesting to see how PLC and Miller do next year with both losing big parts of their offense. I know people say Miller has talent at QB to step up but Body will be some big shoes to fill
