Sad to hear this. Always admired Detmer because he could have taken a job at many ISDs who would have paid him some big bucks, but stayed true to his style which was to coach at ISDs that were on the lower end of the economic ladder and maybe struggled on the football field before his tenure. He had some lethal teams in Mission back in the day with one making the Semis. Certainly he will be in the all the Texas sports related Hall Of Fames sooner rather than later. RIP and God Bless Coach Detmer.

My wife told me about his passing yesterday. May he RIP
Back in the day when almost all teams were ground and pound coach Detmer was slinging it all over the field, especially at SW when his oldest was the QB.

A true legend and Ty was a beast throwing that football. Anyone remember who took that giant down Tyโs senior year in the playoffs?

I remember him hitting a late long TD pass against us his Jr year to win the game. Our CB slipped and left him all alone downfield or it wouldn't have happened.
