I've watched both La Vega games so far. They are a solid tough team but beatable. It's going to take a complete effort from Calallen but they can do it. As of right now I'd have to favor LV. Should be a great game for both teams.

Keeping ones composure in this game will be a huge advantage.

I think they will push Carthage come playoff time. But at the same time that is a rivalry game. La Vega played about the same as week 1. Only difference is Connally didn't shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers.

This should be a defensive battle La Vegas defense has been touted as the best In 4A and Calallen always has a stout defense. I believe La Vega will be ranked number two in the state this week Argyle in my opinion will jump to number one. I am pulling for Calallen to pull this one off La Vega can be beat.

Over on the Football Friday chat...
La Vega Fans think this game is in the bag. Typical north of Austin superiority.
A Lampasas fan acts like they've been a big dog for decades when they've literally sucked for decades and have just recently showed up.

Badgers must have a bumper crop of Fort Hood kids from families wanting Lampasas style home life recently.

Lampassas hasn't played near the competition of some of the D-15 teams. They will find out in the area round of the playoffs when they have to play Miller, Calhoun or Calallen.

1) La Vega doesnt have it in the bag
2) Not everyone North of Austin has a superiority complex
3) Lampases is gonna be trouble come playoff time

This is a tough game to call.
The bigger issue is beating a team twice in the same year. Whoever wins, they may have to do it again in the playoffs with a lot more on the line.
Good luck to both teams.

Waco La Vega (2-0) vs Corpus Christi Calallen (1-1) at San Marcos: For the third straight week, La Vega takes on a team ranked in the top 10 as the Pirates meet up with Calallen in a neutral site game in San Marcos. La Vega, who was the pre-season No. 1 team in in the state in 4A-Division I, dropped to No. 2 in the state, but that has more to do with how good Argyle has looked early in the year. The Pirates defense through two games is as advertised allowing just 17 total points after last week’s hard fought 13-10 win over Waco Connally. The offense hasn’t been as a sharp and it may struggle even more with the news of QB Ara Rauls likely being out for some time after an arm injury in last week’s win. With inexperience at the QB spot, look for more of the offense to fall on the shoulders of RB’s Jar’Que Walton and Jesse Majors-Sterling; the duo combined for 216 tough yards and both touchdowns last week in the win. Calallen’s offense got in gear last week with a fourth quarter flurry to pull away from Jourdanton in a 56-35 victory. RB Jeremiah Earls led the way for the Wildcats rushing for 317 yards and three touchdowns. The personality of both of these teams is to play things close to the vest, run the football and rely on their defense. So expect a smash-mouth low scoring contest. La Vega’s defense, which has been really good early in the year, may make the difference again as they are sensational at slowing down teams who are one dimensional. Unless Calallen takes to the air, the Pirates defense should have a handle on them. First team to 20 wins! Stepp’s Pick: Waco La Vega by 4
