The tweet was signed by the school district's trainer as well as athletic director/head football coach J.R. Castellano.
Taft ISD superintendent Ricardo Trevino said Castellano was notified after Monday's practice that a student-athlete had tested positive for COVID-19 and the district started contacting with all those who were in attendance.
Taft did not hold workouts Tuesday.
Trevino said a letter will also be sent out to those affected this week. Trevino said the school district is hopeful of resuming practice after the mandatory 14-day self-quarantine.
Taft held summer strength and conditioning and sport-specific workouts without issue, Trevino said, only stopping as a precaution.
The UIL announced in July that football programs in Class 4A and below would start practice on Monday, the first day programs were allowed to have fall practices.
Regular season games are scheduled to begin Thursday, Aug. 27.
Taft is the first school in the area to publicly announce a positive test since practice began Monday.
