Let me know your opinions before I film an episode later this afternoon. The more successful programs draw the best athletes. I think it is that simple of an answer. South Oak Cliff in the DFW area was down big time until only five years ago. I agree successful programs draw the best, but there is a little more to it.

I had made this as a joke but in all seriousness the UIL is either stupid or doesn't really give a chit about player safety for allowing this. These players are young now and fine but give it 20 years and watch all the chronic pain you're gonna have in your legs and hips for not protecting yourself in these young years. Talk about this Chino. A friend mine's son got sent back to the sideline a few years ago for this. Now it's all over the place..

bASeBaLL oNLy takes some of the better athletes at some schools out of football early . Even though when some of our teams won baseball titles or were almost yearly participants in the final four, most of the better baseball players were football players too. I despise this one sport, year around crap. So do college scouts who repeatedly say they like multi sport athletes. It doesn't seem to sink in. It should, but not with our baseball program at Calallen. And since they started this non sense of quietly suggesting baseball only around 2011 being the route to go, we have won Zero state titles and made the regional finals only three times. The policy isn't officially you can't play other sports, but they put all sorts of pressure on the kids and parents to have their kids play as much baseball as possible during the off season and thus they give up the other sports. And because they don't cut people it's even more ridiculous you can have all the kids playing $elect and a dozen or so who don't start and/or pitch might get one or two at bats during the balance of the high school season. BTW our Girls softball program on the other hand has multi sport athletes galore and won state last year and were runners up the year prior. And some of them dare run track during the spring too! Imagine that!!!!!! They are probably strongly favored to win state again this spring due to the fact they bring 10 of 10 starters back.

I didn't check just searched for South Texas population. Edit: looks like they consider South Texas starting just south of S.A. from maps.

I thought it looked a little on the low side if San Antonio was included. I think with stats, Austin and San Antonio get thrown into the same pot now much like D/FW has been for decades now.
